edit: I admit, one of the few things I hate most in life, in my 45 years, of all time, is that FUCKING theme song. I swear… I love the show, but I don’t watch it much became of that intro song.

a couple of years ago, Plex introduced a feature that lets me skip the intro song, and it was one of the best things I though could exist, because I binge watch Trek in huge playlists, and have for years. Just recently, Plex introduced a new feature to auto-skip both intros and credits… hazaaa!!! never will I have to hear this accursed song again that has accursed my ears 23 years hence!

    BUT NO!

My appleTVs, long graces with Plex’s newest and best features before any other platform — no! appleTv’s Plex app does not get this auto-skip intro/credits feature! I’m stuck with manually skipping the horrible ENT theme song! NOOOO!!!

edit 2: and I don’t want to hear about jellyjin. I’m good

So, what you’re saying is, it’s been a long road getting from there to here?

I remember watching the show on TV by chance when it was on the air; the intro was exciting, and then boom, the theme song. I didn’t watch it again for a decade or more.

It’s a shame, because the show was actually pretty decent. The horrific into song drive so many people away. And when they tried to improve it for S03, it only made it worse.

IMO, finally back on the rails. if S01 and S02 just vanished from existence, I…. think I’d sleep easier. as far as I’m concerned, they didn’t happen.

I mean, really— am I to believe that Dr. Baltar was Picard’s dad and that the Borg Queen had an impromptu Pat Benatar solo with full jazz accompaniment? That Picard’s mom killed herself in the family chateau in some fantastical dream crossover with some Nazi/Borg dream allegory? No! Rafa got the good shit, and we all got to ride along. Time-travel repressed-memory fever-dream hallucination over. S01 and S02 and their shitty writing didn’t happen.

S03 was awesome and self-contained, and that’s all I care to remember.

lmao…. I dunno. the whole “twin towers 9/11” allegory that led into the Delphic Expanse and the pursuit of the Xindi was both terrible and also led to some cool stories.

overall, it really sucked, though. and, yeah, sorry for missing what you were talking about, lol. I’m tired.

Tough not to touch on it, given when the show was airing. Using it as the arc for the whole season is a bit taxing. “Proving Ground” is definitely the highlight for me.

Yes, you are to believe those things.

Also, I totally kept thinking he was going to pull out his Aerilon accent and turn into some kind of raving monster or something. Kind of sad that didn’t happen.

Also, given that he and Bashir look so alike, and that Bashir is genetically enhanced… are we also to believe that they just basically tried their best to turn him into Picard’s dad?

That one mirror universe Enterprise episode’s intro was pretty good, but the S3 intro was certifiably unlistenable.

I never reach for my remote faster than when I forget to skip an Enterprise intro.

All the other treks are fine (haven’t watched the new new ones), if a bit long.

Discovery has a meh intro that cant seem to build to something, SNW is a goddamn banger, Lower Decks has a pretty TNG/Voy sounding one

On my first watch of Enterprise, I hated the cheesy intro song.

      By episode 8:

Bortus from The Orville singing the opening verse to 'Faith of the Heart'

when I heard the new theme song, I - just for a second - questioned whether the Nazis were worth it.

then I remembered that I’m a gay jew. with epilepsy.

so, he he he… ya know…

edit: but, seriously, even the Nazis knew that theme song was Scheiße!

What were they thinking about the country western theme song? How is that, “Trek”? It wasn’t even an original song made for the series.

It’s different and I was confused at first, too. But I think it’s a great fit.

Please hear me out xD Enterprise is all about the beginning of human space travel. Most of the time the crew is totally winging it. No prime directive, no protocols and far inferior tech compared to other species. Yet they are struggeling in this vast new space to find their place in this interstellar community. They are effectively space cowboys. So I find a Country theme quite fitting, to communicate that.

That’s not Star Trek. It’s that shitty comedy with Seth McFarland. The Orville
