The duration is different depending on where you view it. I will be in an area where totality will last 4 minutes and 20 seconds so I have a different plan of action.

I think many of us have that plan of action regardless of the duration.

Unrelated, does her eyes seem like they’re staring just a little in different directions?

It’s all the turning around. It made her cross-eyed.

She’s probably just looking past the camera. It’s supposed to give better photographic head shots.

I hope the bugs are active that time of year where you’re viewing the eclipse, you’ll be in for an extra treat that folks in Cleveland may not hear.

In fact, I’d say if you live south of St Louis maybe don’t play Total Eclipse of the Heart, or you won’t hear the bugs and frogs start up.

I live north of St. Louis. I’m just hoping it won’t be cold.

Either way, Bonnie Tyler is the hero we need right now.

Their songs may be slightly too long for an eclipse.

Also, we won’t be seeing The Dark Side of the Moon.

What’s blocking the sun during the eclipse?!

Technically its the light side of the moon thats blocking the sun.

Technically, the light side of the moon is the one that is facing the sun. You know, where the light is.

The only people who have seen the dark side are the ones who have orbited around it. The dark side is the side that never faces us.

I offer this counterpoint: the dark side is the side that is dark

Not “Eclipse”, the last track from Dark Side. Just over two minutes, which will a little longer than the amount of time my area will have totality.

I mean technically it will be the dark side of the moon. It’ll just be the same side we normally see. A super fast new moon if you will.

I suggest also Total Eclipse by Klaus Nomi Or Eclipse by Apoptygma Berzerk. Runtimes dont match but both are about eclipses and adecuate for the current state of owr world.

Klaus nomi for the doomers and apoptygma for the positives.

Unrelated, but they used this song to tell us drugs were bad in high school. Had a whole performative dance thing to it where a student smoked weed for the first time and either OD’d or got depressed and unalived themselves because that’s how it works, of course.

Anyway, I was able to be in totality for the 2017 eclipse and I’m hoping to get there again this time. It’s an amazing experience - highly recommend!

I also got totality in 2017, which was awesome, but my daughter was still to young to really appreciate it, so I’m looking forward to this one more.

The duration of totality differs depending how near or far you are from the centre of its path. I mean, I’m gonna blast my karaoke version for all to hear anyway. Just sayin’.
