Meanwhile, Representative Elise Stefanik—the star browbeater of the hearings on campus antisemitism called by the House Education and Workforce Committee—has been gunning forthe resignation of Columbia President Nemat (Minouche) Shafik (a matter that is not the purview of politicians, but of faculty, administrators, and trustees).

It’s funny how even after kowtowing to right wing demands, she faces demands to resign not only from the left that she sicced the police on, but also the right that she has been groveling towards.

Not that it would be surprising coming from any Republican, but it’s ESPECIALLY not surprising coming from Stefanik of all people.

5 years ago, nobody outside of her district had ever heard of her and now she’s the chair of the House Republican Conference.

Her sudden ascendancy was caused by the following:

      • being one of if not THE most obnoxiously vehement denier of reality at Trump’s first impeachment hearings
      • backing Trump’s coup attempts
      • claiming that Pelosi was responsible for Jan 6
      • Her predecessor Liz Cheney being kicked out for not being a Trump sycophant.

So yeah, this nonsense is 100% consistent with the kind of counterfactual demagoguery that’s made her career.

Conservatives have always played “victims”, it doesn’t surprise me in the least to see them co-opt anti-semitism now. I think they’ve actually resented Jewish people for having been genuine victims, stealing away that precious attention they wanted for themselves. Now they pretend to have always been besties with the Jewish, and claim anti-semitism is something they stand against in solidarity with the government of Israel (even more shithead conservatives)

Most Jews don’t fall for that. Or at least me and my Jew friends

The right has always been a friend to the jewish people, it’s those National Socialists you have to watch out for.

      Lol of course.

Nazis used the term national socialist as propaganda and were indeed a fascist movement as we are all well aware.

Anybody who uses the term “National Socialist” except in explanatory cases is a transparently dishonest bad faith actor trying to associate the left with Nazis by arbitrary naming while the right associates themselves by literally defending Hitler and doing fascism.

TL;DR: guy above you is a chode.

That’s not their style. Satan’s Maggoty Cum Fart doesn’t do obvious. It’s deadpan all the way and that’s one of the many reasons to love our Maggie, as I am now going to call them unless they object 😁
