Shocking. Just like killing the USPS, they’d get multiple outcomes they’d like - one is that they’d crank out more Republicans by keeping people ignorant. Another is that they’d get to shovel money and education to the “right” people (read: not the Blahs). Lastly, they’d crush the threat of a good example - teachers’ unions.

For the USPS, they’d get to rip away any ceiling on prices for shipping, and they’d also get to crush another threat of a good example in labor - unionized postal workers.

      Just like killing the USPS

Which has been 100% bipartisan. How many years did Obama ignore the over funding pensions issue? Biden has appointed enough Dems to the USPS board of governors to expel DeJoy, but he’s still in there.

This is the whole point of school vouchers is it not? The rich have been angling for this since Nixon

I can’t wait for the new curriculum where they teach financial planning. I’m sure it won’t boil down to “unions steal your wages” and “be thankful for any job,” no sir-ee.

I think you meant to say, “yes sir-ee” and, “thank you for the work”.

Can’t wait for the fast-track curriculum to create productive warehouse worker sponsored by Amazon!

    With such courses as

    • Peeing in a bottle
    • Talking your family out of taking vacation days
    • The nightmare of unionization and job loss

Such a great future ahead 😃👍

If private education is better than public, and education is mandated by law, then aren’t they then undoing a 60+ year long concentrated effort to lower the number of educated people in America, to now making everybody more educated?

Doesn’t that screw up their whole plan of making everybody dumb enough to be republican voting?

Milwaukee had private Catholic schools that blew the competition out of the water. Republicans came in and made magnet chater schools that only let in the best of the best. They, too, blew the public schools out of the water.

The black parents said it was unfair, and opened up charter schools populated by students that won a “school lottery”, but used the same techniques and curriculum that the magnet and catholic schools used. Those student did worse then public school students.

As it turns out, the selection bias of putting rich catholic students or the best of the best in one school over-powered the fact that the private curriculum and techniques were a hinderence to learning. Once the students that have parents that value education (and pay large sums for it) and the students that have high aptitude are removed, more private schools won’t help the remaining students.

Something needs to be done with the DoE. US literacy rates are some of the lowest in the world, median reading and comprehension rate is 6th grade, 11/12 year old children. They are serving as nothing more than houses of propaganda

Here’s what to do with the DoE: Fund it properly so our public schools can receive the funding they need.

The quality of education has been steadily going down the last 30 years, this is not something recent

And the Republicans have spent the last 40 years convincing their constituents that programs they’ve defunded are failures. This includes the DoE.
