Mark Ruffalo spoke about what’s next, and told his followers we have our “marching orders”.
"No to Trump/Vance. No to the right-wing Christian religious takeover of our nation. Nothing wrong with Christianity; just shouldn’t be running a nation birthed from freedom of religion.”

Appreciate someone saying this loud and proud.

I’m pretty sure it is because he came out hard against Trump.

Hah that’s an understatement! He used the media coverage of the first of four trump criminal trials to publicly lambast him out in front of the courthouse along with a few of the J6 first responders: https://archive.is/qWeJi - predictably the red hats lost their minds over this. At any rate, I’m picking up what De Niro’s putting down.

That’s a terrible way to store money. He should use a bank, not agricultural storage techniques.

I ask this sincerely: is there anybody who cares about Lizzo and what she has to say about politics?

That people are influenced by what celebrities think is a big problem IMO, whether they align with my beliefs or not.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Stars including Robert De Niro, Lizzo and Barbra Streisand are reacting to the news that US president, Joe Biden, is bowing out from the presidential election and not seeking another term in office after weeks of pressure to step aside.

Within hours of the news being announced on Sunday (21 June), two-time Oscar winner De Niro showed support for the frontrunner nominee, Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris, to take on Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election in November.

In a statement issued via his spokesperson Stan Rosenfeld, De Niro said: “In an act of shrewd politics and selfless patriotism, Joe Biden is stepping aside to clear the path for another Democrat to become president .

Billie Eilish’s brother and musical collaborator Finneas posted a photo on Instagram of his family standing with the president and wrote: “I see a person putting the people before themselves and their pride today, and for that, I have an enormous amount of respect.”

Comedian Kathy Griffin, who was fired from CNN in 2017 after sharing a photo of herself holding an effigy of Trump’s decapitated head, wrote online: “Let’s make history!!!

Freaky Friday actor Jamie Lee Curtis said she supported Biden’s decision and endorsed Harris’s nomination, writing on Instagram: “She is trusted and tested and she is a fierce advocate for women’s rights and people of color and her message is one of hope and unity for America at her time of great national divide.”

Why do any of us care about celebrity input, are they well versed in the world politics? Are they very up to date on serious social matters? Quit making these people who they play on a screen.

If an actor plays a role that demonstrates a quality, you expect that actor to understand that quality, and have a good idea of whether someone is being genuine or not when they display that quality.

Imagine if Chris Evans publicly criticized Trump. Evans has played a douchebag in Scott Pilgrim AND Captain America. He had to study what qualities douchebags have and what qualities are genuinely patriotic. I bet he understands full well that Trump is more like the Nazis Captain America fought than the service members Captain America fought with.
