Nearly four in ten (39%) of US adults say they worry most or all of the time that their family’s income won’t be enough to meet expenses, according to a new CNN poll. That’s up from 28% who expressed those concerns in December 2021, and it’s similar to the numbers seen during the Great Recession (37%).
To cope, significant shares of Americans said they are adding side jobs, cutting down on driving and putting more expenses on credit cards.
39% of Americans worry they can’t pay the bills.
The other 61% just disassociate like it’s going out of style.
60.89% of the population.
Yeah, those wealthy bastards really are just a fucking rounding error, aren’t they? Pushing policies that take away the rights and safety of American women, BIPOC, the disabled, people of different sexual orientations, non-Christians, trans people…all of whom have a much higher representation among the general populace than they do. Hmm…make ya wonder doesn’t it? (taps chin, sharpens guillotine blade)
Entirely anecdotal, but we’re setting up for a fruit and vegetable garden next season. Having a portion of either with each meal was how we were raised, but doing so from the grocery is pushing our bill up a good $100 a month.
Overall this isn’t much of a surprise. Since the industrial revolution, the production value of one worker has grown exponentially. Salaries, not so much. A prime side effect of this disparity is the demise of the stay at home parent. The ratio of people this was a reality for vs the ones it wasn’t has entirely inverted. All this in a handful of generations.
A home garden should be more of a hobby than a requirement.
Hey, I have to pay essentially three mortgage-sized loans so that can cause some stress on the ol’ budge, ya know?
Why would you put more on credit??? The interest rates on credit cards are fucking criminal.
Necessities are necessary. If you don’t have the money for said necessities, what do you do? Borrow money, and worry about it tomorrow.

Yeah, you definitely read the article and didn’t jump to conclusions at all. Clown.
Groceries are up $1k a month. They’ve cut streaming and entertainment and started relying on the library. They’ve stopped driving. They’re working 2, 3 jobs. Not sure what shitty kings you’re hanging with if this seems luxurious to you.
Lol that guy is crazy, probably has no clue just how expensive having a family is. Listed nothing factual at all, no statistics or avg/median prices, spending data, nothing. Probably regurgitating some fox news shit that if you have A/C and a fridge you’re better off than a 15th century peasant.
Hope they get the help they need.

Your post history makes it pretty clear that you suffer from depression - the unrealistically black and white thinking, the lack of anything but negativity - so I’m sorry about that. If you can, I’d recommend trying psilocybin. It’s helped several people I know with bad depression.
In the meantime I’m going to block you, since 95%+ of your posts are straight trolling.
Who is paying $1,000 of groceries a month?
<nervously raises hand> someone with a family, perhaps.
Right there with you. I can’t leave Costco without spending at least $200. I go every week. This doesn’t account for target. I’ve cut Starbucks out entirely though so Im pretty much set for retirement.
My source is (gasp) - the article! You can click and read it too, maybe.
Report the troll, post for others to report and mute them, then mute them yourself, nothing but frustration will ever come from trying to reason with a troll.
And next time you see someone -blocked- in a thread, let the community know they’re dealing with, at best, a bad faith actor.
Eh everyone gets a chance. But yes, their daft follow up earned a block.
