I always felt like Scotty was the only one who truly understood Spock’s technobabble.
Scotty’s the one who had to make it work, so I hope so.
The reverse would suggest that Spock serves as the ship’s Chief Pointeer or Head of Pointeering.
Which is now my head canon.

The job of a red shirt is to die … unless you fix star ship engines and speak with a Scottish accent (which your family hasn’t been able to lose for the past 400 years)
