Well the primary reason they would “backfire” is because Trump is perfectly consistent about being full of shit. There is literally no way that he’s going to do something that benefits anyone other than himself. We’ve had 8 years to learn that.

We’ve been hearing about this turd since the 1980s, he’s never done something to benefit another human since then.

Yeah the guy lies every time he opens his mouth.

The only way I’d ever believe he has any sort of plan is if they actually showed us in detail what the plan entails and what the possible effects the plan would have including positive and negative things. But there is no way republicans would come up with a plan that detailed. trump would just show some more unopened binders with stacks of blank papers.

There’s a lot of shady shit with farm subsidies…

    https://www.politico.com/news/2023/05/01/farm-bill-funds-lawmakers-00093821

And if Trump did actually do anything, it would be massive subsidies to the big farms and limiting import to drive up the price.

If we’re lucky we’d end up paying the same price but shit would always be running out, this k England immediately after Brexit.

But the wealthy would make a shit ton more money.

Rural conservative farmers are the biggest welfare queens you can dream of, but they always moan about the liberals and “coloreds” taking all the money with their laziness.

I never understood why those folks thought corporate welfare was the only acceptable form of welfare.

That article mostly focuses on a member of Congress also being the owner of a farm. There was an important point made as well - farms can’t be paused or put on hold as easily as other types of businesses,

“It’s one thing to turn off your professional business, another to be able to turn it back on,” he said. “But once you give up your farm, it might never be possible to restart.”

It’s an understandable concern, but not the biggest one. Better savings and efficiencies may be available by targeting the major agribusinesses first. (One member of congress admitted to owning a $1 million farm, compared to the $165 billion industry overall.)

Anyone with a brain listening to the shit he spews knows it will be bad for anyone that isn’t already in the owner class. Hearing the conservative chuds in my state talk about how Harris will make shit more expensive and Trump will save us makes me literally laugh in their face. Thank you, Trump. Your dumbass as enabled me to laugh in the face of your followers and instead of getting instamad they stop and think cause they know we’re in the same financial class, and “if Mr Smart Computers Man is gonna have a bad time maybe so will I.” You gave me all the ammo I need to spread doubt among your faithful and I have done it with the intensity of a California wildfire.

It’s just like anything else that comes out of his mouth. I assume the exact opposite would happen if he’s elected.

Why are news outlets still pretending anything Trump “vows” isn’t just random bullshit he said?
