    I had a job like that early-ish in my career.

    I taught myself so much random tech stuff while I was being ignored for 8 hours each day.

    I still love that boss. They were great.

    I’m just realizing that’s probably how Miles emerges as a miracle worker in DS9.

        In Tapestries Q establishes that Picard doesn’t contribute anything of value to history, so arguably Picard is one of the least important people in the quadrant

    Seems a bit like emailing the CEO about your vacation time in a medium sized company. Pretty sure he would have fallen under Riker’s umbrella, and might have had LaForge, Data, or maybe Wesley between him and Riker.

    Is this some long-winded headcanon for why he has to interact with Picard in “Emissary”? I didn’t feel like they had any relationship to warrant that.
