Lebanon foreign minister Abdallah Bou Habib told CNN that Nasrallah had agreed to a 21-day ceasefire with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu days before his death. The temporary ceasefire was called for by US President Joe Biden, France President Emmanuel Macron, and other allies on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly last month.

Habib said, “We agreed completely. Lebanon agreed to a ceasefire but (after) consulting with Hezbollah. The (Lebanese House) Speaker Mr Nabih Berri consulted with Hezbollah and we informed the Americans and the French about what happened. And they told us that Mr Netanyahu also agreed on the statement that was issued by both (US and French) presidents (Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron)…They told us that Mr Netanyahu agreed on this and so we also got the agreement of Hezbollah on that and you know what happened since then.”

Following the Hezbollah leader’s death, Iranian authorities are thoroughly investigating possible infiltration within its ranks, including the Revolutionary Guards to senior security officials. They have focused on those who travel abroad or have relatives outside of Iran. As per reports, Tehran grew suspicious of certain members of the Guards who have been travelling to Lebanon. One of these members reportedly asked about Nasrallah’s whereabouts and how long he would remain in those particular locations.

Thats WHY they killed him. Cant have those “evil blood thirty terrorists” calling for peace now can they? That would ruin the optics of their special military operation or whatever they’re calling their invasion of Lebanon.

It’s mad that they have operatives so high up in Hezbollah that they can compromise the entirety of their means of communication in one stroke but couldn’t use those same operatives and compromised lines of communication to see the October attacks coming.

Hopefully, mossad waited long enough before doing this that no one will think to try and reconcile the two.

I remember a few posts here on lemmy saying that the American secret service warned Netanyahu that the October attacks were gonna happen but he decided to ignore the warnings. My guess is that he wanted them to happen as an excuse to start the genocide.

Should have made peace with Hezbollah just the way America made peace with the middle east after 9/11 and how the u.s didn’t kill Osama bin Laden right?

I mean the war on terror is widely regarded to be one of the biggest disasters in American history so… uh… you’re not making the point you think you’re making.

I’m pointing out the absurdity of Americans suddenly moralizing and being champions of Arab people. Racist fucks kill half the world then tell us who we should be mad at.

Just as Israeli government does not equal Isreali citizens, U.S. citizens do no equal U.S. government. Please lets not fall victim to the same hate that fascists use as excuse for their horrible actions.

At least during the War on Terror, some effort was put into minimizing civilian casualties. Not enough, but we did try. The rest of the world abandoned total war post WWII. With the advancements in technology both surveillance and accurate munitions, there’s no real excuse for the way Israel has been conducting itself in Gaza.

A million Iraqi civilians died in the US wars on Iraq. They carpet bombed and let so many cities just burn.

I didn’t say we were any good at it. Just that there was some effort, like, there was no carpet bombing. If Isreal maintaines their same pace they’re going to cause that number of casualties in a fraction of the time, and they’re doing it intentionally.

No, even better. They could have learned from our (the US) mistakes the way Biden urged them to. Why go through what you just witnessed did not work?

They could say anything and we would not know what the real truth was, so of course they would say something that would cast a poor light on Israel…

eh, at this point I don’t give a shit. Fuck Bibi in his genocidal ass.

Bruh they really airstriked their HQ because he agreed to a ceasfire.

And it’s not even something unbelievable because Nasrallah already mentioned way back in Octobor that he was very reluctant to join in with Hamas’s attack.

They killed Ismail Haniyeh for the same reason.

Israel spent decades pacifying their enemies, and now they’re literally too passive to use as a reason for expansion.

it is well known israel doesnt want a cease fire. they will only be satisfied with total annihilation. pretty sure the other sides feel the same way.
