    Cyberbullying is sometimes acceptable

It doesn’t teach anyone a lesson, but it can keep cretins out of places where decent, non-racist folk gather :)

I’m happy to be capable of dismantling most bigots online. I understand how they think and what hurts them enough to keep them away. I rarely need to block because I’m not fun to attack.

I’ve just started blocking assholes. It’s a good thing I did, as there seems to be two that comment on things I say often that I never see.

This is the answer. Blocking them does nothing to them, banning them lets them feel like the victim and let’s them do mental gymnastics to learn the wrong lesson

No, we live with these people. We’re connected to them in many ways, and cutting this one link to them is just ignoring them until they do something we can’t ignore

We don’t need to make them quit - we need to make them run away. They need to feel the community rise up against them. They need to feel mocked and hated for their words. They need to feel anxiety before they say hateful things - online and IRL

They need to learn. And when they crawl back, censoring themselves and making an effort for the sake of acceptance, we need to be kind and show them the road back. Eventually they’ll understand, or at least they’ll understand how to act

We need to fix their behavior, and this is a constructive and morally justified way to let out all your frustration and anger

The mod doesn’t care. They’re equally downvoted but just blame “the crazy liberals.”

A quick browse through that subreddit’s comment section shows a good 80% of commenters (and virtually all comment voters) are left-of-center. What did you have to do to get them to ban you, cause it sounds pretty difficult

I used to use Sync for Lemmy and it would show deleted or banned posts in some situations. The community is a graveyard of lost arguments.

The secret to being banned seems to be to bring evidence and ask them “did you even read it?” when they argue a bad faith interpretation of it.

I do this at times, I know I’m unlikely to convince them, so might as week see how angry I can get them for the funny
