It’s just not worth it. This one has 800+ users and moving it will get nowhere near as many to join. Also all instances have their problems so personally I don’t avoid them completely and just block stuff as I see it.

      263 weekly active users.

Why do you think wouldn’t move to this community if there was a pinned post here pointing to it?

[email protected] got created today and has 349 daily active users. [email protected] has 102.

Some people don’t view the community directly, just their subscribed feed.

I think it’s a bit silly to use Lemmy.world data as reasoning to move off of Lemmy.ml. Lemmy.world is also controversial, and has its own set of biases, and as such you aren’t going to get consistent data either way. Additionally, by asking on Lemmy.world, you cut off lots of people from answering, like those on Hexbear or Lemmygrad.

It’s like depending on tea lovers for opinions on coffee, but cutting out a lot of coffee lovers from voicing their opinions on it.

Indeed, which is why I did not suggest to use LW to host the community.

And I reported recently power tripping on LW on [email protected] so don’t worry, I’m well aware

We still answers from a set of different instances, including lemm.ee, SJW, blahaj, lemmy.today, fedia.io, discuss.tchncs.de and a few others

you cut off lots of people from answering, like those on Hexbear or Lemmygrad.

Lemmy.zip does not block any of those, so they should be fine. I also went back to a month and couldn’t find any post made by a member of those instances, so not sure how interested they are in this topic?

Yes, but your reasoning for saying Lemmy.ml is controversial is from response on a Lemmy.world thread. Had you asked on another instance with broader federation, you would have different results. Generally, Lemmy.ml is going to have mixed support that depends on if said instance is federated or defederated with Hexbear and Grad. That’s why I say your reasoning isn’t great here.

And I reported recently power tripping on LW on [email protected] so don’t worry, I’m well aware

Good! That’s certainly not the least of it. Here are a few examples of the mods denouncing Socialism and Marxism, and they perma-banned me from political memes for going against the liberal narrative for “misinformation and posturing” despite leaving up the Zionist lie that the Palestinian genocide is a 1000 year conflict. This is also when one of the moderators claimed they weren’t censoring anyone and were incredibly fair on a comment chain calling out their censorship, and refused to elaborate. They would not even tell me how I could edit my comments to comply with their rules.

They defederated from Hexbear “as a last resort-” before ever federating with Hexbear.

In the Lemmygrad defederation thread, there’s unsupported claims of hate speech and calls to violence, which we have to fill in the blanks - the mods are anti-Marxist and anti-revolution, so any Marxist instance is going to fail that test.

The Hexbear defederation thread is somehow worse when they list why instead of leaving it to the imagination. Read some of the top comments, it’s clear that it was anti-Socialist in motive. Real spooky scary zingers listed as evidence in the post like “The West’s role in the world, through organizations such as NATO, the IMF, and the World Bank - among many others - are deeply harmful to the billions of people living both inside and outside of their imperial core.” This statement is 100% obvious to anyone not stanning the US Empire.

Another example listed is “These organizations constitute the modern imperial order, with the United States at its heart - we are not fooled by the term “rules-based international order.” It is in the Left’s interest for these organizations to be demolished. When and how this will occur, and what precisely comes after, is the cause of great debate and discussion on this site, but it is necessary for a better world.” Yet again, they are defederated for being Marxists, and therefore being revolutionary. This is just because they are authentically Marxist, not because posters were mean.

The mods of Lemmy.world are Liberals. Not just any liberals, but “true believers.” Marxism is dangerous to them and so they shut it out, they spelled it out plainly. As such, users fine with said mod behavior are likely to also be against Lemmy.ml, hence why asking on a Lemmy.world thread is flawed IMO.

We still answers from a set of different instances, including lemm.ee, SJW, blahaj, lemmy.today, fedia.io, discuss.tchncs.de and a few others

Yes. SJW maintains MeanwhileOnGrad, ergo many of its users are going to be anti-Marxists to begin with. That’s what I mean, when you go to a tea shop to ask about coffee, and you kick out most of the coffee lovers, you are going to have a biased sampling.

Lemmy.zip does not block any of those, so they should be fine. I also went back to a month and couldn’t find any post made by a member of those instances, so not sure how interested they are in this topic?

Yes, because the thread is a Lemmy.world thread. Those users cannot comment on your thread, that’s my whole point. This just reads as you trying to push an anti-Lemmy.ml narrative directly for ulterior motives.
