Summary

President Joe Biden criticized President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to impose 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico as “counterproductive,” warning it could harm relationships with key trade partners.

Trump announced the tariffs would remain until illegal immigration and fentanyl trafficking are stopped, drawing criticism from economists who argue the costs would fall on consumers.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum disputed Trump’s claim that she agreed to “close borders.” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stressed the importance of maintaining strong U.S.-Canada trade ties in response to the proposal.

Understandable, but don’t you think that’s exactly how people thought when Trump was transitioning to Biden? What do you propose that would be different from that, other than being on the other side?

Not like I’m happy that Trump is gonna be in office but the people get what they vote for. It’s problematic when that doesn’t become the case. Well, might still be before then but it’s hard to protect people from themselves.

yeah, if we do that both sides are indistinguishable

cant tell the difference, no sir

just a couple-a old dudes that are entirely the same in every way

I’m not saying the sides aren’t different. I’m arguing that the actions being suggested are not. Acting against what people voted for seems pretty bad to me, no matter what.

Thats what they want you to think. The truth is there is but one tried and true path. They want you to think it would be no difference than Jan 6ers. But fucken Biden didnt quid pro quo cabinet positions, or try to sic a mob on the VP, or have them smear shit on the walls in the capital. Actions may look the same on the surface but intent is not. Never let them tell you hanging Mussolini was a wrong and terrible act that made them no different than him.

Blaming Biden when Americans failed the vote is a strange take. It is not Biden’s fault Americans voted Trump over Harris- adults are responsible for their own choices so why not American voters? Do you expect him to act like Trump did on January 6 and initiate an insurrection?

Its Biden’s fault for being an establishment pick, and doing nothing for his time in. And wile that’s not fully true, he did not promote progressive ideals. In some cases he chose the opposite of progressive policies. Then Harris got the nomination, promised more of the same. So i understand why people didn’t bother voting. I have been vocal about absolutely hating the democrats for what they were doing, but i still voted for Harris, because … i am in harm prevention mode.

I’m blaming the entire apparatus for not clamping down on corporate playgrounds dealing Russian misinformation. I’m blaming Dems for believing the fallacy you can’t be progressive in America and caring for donors more than votes. I’m blaming institutions that allowed the systemic dismantling of education that replaces civilian choice with ideological dogma. And most of all, I’m blaming the human race for spiraling down the same toilet bowl we always do when corporations think unions are a little too popular. This entire mess is just a chain of clown shows insisting they hold true wisdom.

Yeah, I am so fucking disappointed in the results, I did everything I could, and that baboon still won.

I also at first wished Biden would do something, but I don’t see how that could be accomplished without resulting in civil war.

I mean unless there was some kind of fraud he actually even got a popular vote.

Where IMO Biden dropped the ball was:

        • still ignoring social media. They are currently have more power than MSM with no responsibility that MSM would have for spreading false information (people still don’t understand that what they post on Facebook, Twitter and others doesn’t matter, because what others see is still controlled by the social media sites. Now with generative AI they can even generate content and then promote it. This is why those companies are interested so much in generative AI)

Yeah, WTF was up with that‽ It almost feels intentional that he was allowed to get away with everything.

America elected this fuck - I’d rather not allow our executives to make judgment calls on whether to hand over the reigns.

The American people made this choice - much to Biden’s dismay.

If we want to fight fentanyl, much more effective would be to impose sanctions on Chinese pharmaceutical companies that produce it (they actually produce legitimate drugs too).

The tariffs idea on Mexico and Canada I bet comes from Elonia who wants to kill competitors to Tesla, who recently (especially this year) started eating into their market share and most have factories in Mexico.

“This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!” Trump said in the post.

Considering Reagan had the CIA running coke and teaching how to make crack…

I really wouldn’t be surprised if Trump is trying to cut out the cartels and import straight into America.

We could see a full blown narco war with all the downsides while supply to US remains uneffected and the people making it happens make billions that’s already in untraceable (and untaxable) accounts or just straight pallets of cash/gold.

Use the government to stop competition and your own operation fills the void. It’s what Rudy did with the Russian mob back in the day too.

And if that’s the plan, supply never goes down and you get a forever war to keep the party in power. Because voters will believe it’s still coming from there.

Shit, the only reason it won’t go down like that is the people trump listens to aren’t smart enough to realize
