Hide under a cardboard box and slowly inch your way across the broadcast frame and out of the studio

Is there a printer in the room? Print off a photo of one of your least favorite coworkers, use it as a paper mask, leave.

Any studio I’m familiar with has an airlock specifically so you can enter and leave during the broadcast.

This is a small studio in an office that has an insulated door, but is located next to the kitchen, so if I open the door it will make noise.

The suido is not fully working at the moment so we use a Logitech meetup unit with a sensitive mic at the moment.

We have a full setup with a good camera , wireless mics, video switcher, lights, but that is not working amazingly at the moment.

You could send an SMS or email to someone in the building and get them to clear the kitchen so you can exit.

Sounds like you could also ruin that recording with a loud fart. Or laugh, or cough. But I’d go for a fart - would be a fantastic way to ruin a scene.

I am an IT guy with an interest in AV technology, so I was asked and accepted to handle the technology as I had some knowledge and understanding of it.

My employer is not a media company, it is a company in a completely different sector that has a media production department and produce videos as part of our brand/company values.

My task is to keep the equipment setup when we are running live broadcasts.

Talk us through it… how have you come to this predicament? What stopped you from eating breakfast? What do you mean stuck? Do you even work there?

I am an IT guy with an interest inphorography and av technology, I helped set up the camera and then they started the broadcast without me having time to get out.

I have a riddle for you.

What can go up a chimney down, but not down a chimney up?

When you walk through, look away from the camera.

    Then it wasn’t you!

You can use touch controls usually, especially with RPGs. GB games like Final Fantasy Legend (aka SaGa) got my though similar boredom.

Would you prefer to work for a company that doesn’t seem to care if you’ve met your basic needs for existence?

Time to look for a new job, imo. I know its easy to say from the outside, but I hope you’re able to find a solution that doesn’t ask you to compromize your living standards for money.

I’d find it very hard to believe no on has told the employees if they’re in the room when it starts they’re stuck, or that this was a “surprise” broadcast.

OP missed the boat and it sucks.

And corps are almost always assholes.

But this seems like the OP just didn’t get out in time

Do you have something to provide or configure for them, like adjusting mic, camera, light, whatever? The idea is - you do something better for them, you wink at each other and then you go in the opposite direction. When you work like that, you are perceived as a different kind of a person, like a photographer, with all rights to smoothly break rules to produce the best result without a punishment. I worked like that some time ago and the ability to confidently walk on the stage and fix critical fuck ups while chameleoning with the background is one of the things I’m grateful to learn. Except for chromokey, you pop like a bloody wound on the chromokey bg and that’s hard to edit out.

And as I see you’ve already escaped. That’s great.
