      They have AI power, we do not.

      So we’re economically and technically vulnerable. Usually because of insufficient EU integration and cooperation etc etc.

      In many areas “the EU” is still like 27-40 little and bigger countries squabbling. This is part of our process too, but still it is prone to be (ab)used by major players ( Huge countries and Big Tech).

      Some people are worried about this weakness and it’s exploitation , and that’s why they prefer to federailze Europe asap, though this bring it’s own challenges ( like new systems of checks & balances). So imo, if we keep doing our euro squabble things, and keep doing it, step by step, we’ll get there. Hopefully, we’ll be ready in time, for whatever crises will come our way next.

      Something modeled after the Swiss confederation will have my preference atm, for example ( though they do have lots and lots of referendums).

      Hard to say what the future holds. But one thing is certain. The French like their language and culture. AI - as it is now - multiplies cultural output. That output won’t be much in the French language or influenced by their cultural traditions.
