I still think the Apple car project was abandoned because they couldn’t figure out a way to flip the car over for charging.
Oh, they’d definitely figure it out: How about an optional ramp accessory, of course cryptographically coupled to the car for security reasons. And while we’re at it, why not place the engine start/stop button at the bottom? After all, if you’re trying to stop the engine you’re driving it wrong.
I’m thinking a dongle of some kind.
There would be only one physical port. The same port would be used for the physical key to open the car, the hood/trunk release and the charging connection. You’d need a separate dongle for each function.
I hope they keep the charging port position just so people can keep shitting on it.
I’d love this too.
Having the port there is a not subtle hint about how often you need to charge it (next to never).
If it dies plug it in, hit the washroom and when you’re back it will have enough charge to last to the end of the day, then plug it in before you leave and it’s good for 3-4 months minimum.
Having used Apple computers since the Apple II+, I think I’m allowed to say that the vast majority of Apple’s mouse designs have been utter trash. The one that I might give a pass to is the ADB Mouse 2. I’m not expecting Apple to change the habit of a lifetime by designing a comfortable mouse.
I love the Magic Trackpad and I use it with Linux. Not sure that counts.
Totally valid, I love Apple trackpads, makes PC laptop trackpads pale in comparison
I still think apple users should have to strap the mouse to their head to charge for ever even considering this initial design acceptable and consuming it.
magic mouse
magic keyboard
im selling hardware to emotional children i guess
magic flatbed scanner
Don’t forget the magic desk chair, only $1499. Wheels sold seperately.
(I love Apple stuff usually, but their peripherials have been pretty awful since, well, forever.)
Trackpad’s pretty good.
yo I remember being in the computer lab in like 1996 and being like “why is there only one button?” well, to "right click you have to also press a keyboard key. right, good.
the ipod was dope though.
$1500 is a good price on a high quality chair
In Apple’s case, it’d be uncomfortable as hell, but also well built and looks aesthetically pleasing.
The one thing I can say about the old port placement is that if it had been on the front, 3/5 of my mac using relatives would have plugged it in out of the box and never unplugged it.
Cool. Let them use their hardware the way they want.
I think they’d much rather have a wireless mouse.
They just wouldn’t know they had one
I don’t understand the appeal of a wireless mouse or keyboard in most situations. You still have it on the desk right next to the computer, it’s not like you’re using it from far away, and now you’ve got to think about keeping the battery charged. Wireless headphones make a bit more sense, because you’re wearing them.
For me, a clutterbug, having a wireless mouse means the wire is not getting in the way of stuff and having to reposition it constantly. But I ended up switching to a trackball which works even better.
And?
And they’d have gone forever not knowing they had a wireless mouse. That’s all.
Which is why they put the plug on the bottom.
I would put money down it will still be worse than the community 3d printed fixes.

That looks like those sports cars in Back to the Future II with fake paneling and jacked rear tires that sticks their butts way in the air.
I got a Mac and wanted the mouse. It is shit. It is the worst mouse I’ve ever had. It’s even worse than a $10 mouse with squeaky buttons. That thing cost 3 times as much as my 12 year old daily driver and even has less functions than my old mouse, even on Mac. My mouse has 5 extra buttons which I programmed to mimic the Mac specific actions and this old thing does more Apple only shit than the Apple mouse 2.
I even fixed the Magic Mouse 2‘s feet myself. The original ones don’t glide at all, so I fixed it by covering the feet in regular cheap ass clear duct tape. Now it glides.
I’ll never buy an apple mouse ever again.
I like the keyboard though since it’s the only high quality membrane keyboard that’s not Logitech I could find.
Apple has never made a good mouse.
Legitimately if they fix the ergonomics and the charging port it might actually not be a terrible choice. I keep the magic trackpad around for gestures whilst using my regular mouse
The charging port does not bother me in the least. But it is uncomfortable to use for a long time.
I use the Magic Mouse in my left hand and the Magic Trackpad with my right. Makes all gestures and control possible.
There’s no way you use windows in a gesture only mode VS just a mouse/trackpad and keyboard, I don’t believe it for a second
Well yeah but you have a keyboard right there. I thought you were saying you use a mouse and trackpad only, with no keyboard at all.
Finally!

Edit - someone care to explain the down votes? Why buy an expensive apple mouse when you could just use a normal mouse with gestures?
