I tried it a couple of times and I’ve got to say: mediocre burgers. I don’t really get the appeal.

I mean they have the audacity to still have the signs that say “best $5 burger voted by yada yada” when literally nothing on their menu is less than $6. (Speaking for downtown DC locations)

It takes 5 guys to make the burgers, but only 1 to carry the sign.

Five guys trick is making you think you’re eating less than you actually are. The cost per weight of meat is about comparable to other fast food, their burgers are just so huge that they’re way more expensive.

They have shitty thawed food. They don’t even make fresh burgers. Why would anyone eat there?

okay so what the fuck is up with people acting like frozen food is somehow bad? yeah sure frozen berries are probably going to thaw into mush but even then why the fuck would anyone care if it’s for a smoothie?

is frozen food just shit in america or something? here in sweden frozen food is a standard thing because it’s in many cases just objectively better.
We live in an age with the technology to basically instantly freeze things in industrial facilities, that effectively stops time for the food and perfectly preserves it. The vast majority of bread and fish (and a lot of meat afaik) will be frozen in transport and thawed at the store, so why not just buy it frozen?

Frozen food indeed often is superior. Especially vegetables and fruit if those are frozen directly after harvest. This is not true, however, for burger patties. You won’t get a previously frozen burger patty medium, for example. Don’t ask me why, I don’t know. Some foods you just want prepared fresh.

huh? frozen patties are very normal here, pretty cheap and of course very easy to cook, and tastes great.

Frozen patties are cheap and pretty tasty, yes. But I prefer making them myself with ground beef and spices and grilling them to my taste (medium) on my Adolf grill. Then I lightly toast my burger buns (also not frozen) for a minute, also on the grill. Shortly before removing the patties from the grill, I place some Brie on the pattie, so it melts (also not frozen). I also add some onions, cucumber, a leaf of iceberg salat and maybe, if I want to completely pig out, also bacon. None of it frozen. As sauces I add ketchup and mustard or BBQ-sauce and mustard and/or mayo.

This is so much better than a pre-frozen burger meal…

see that sounds to me like you’re comparing to shitty pre-packaged whole burgers, not just frozen patties.
When using frozen patties the rest of the process is all basically the same as with fresh patties, which is precisely the point. You can just chuck a stack of patties in the freezer and pull them out whenever you want to make some burgers.

just because one thing is frozen doesn’t mean everything is lmao, that’s a weird strawman. It’s not all or nothing, you can freeze just the bits where it works well and provides benefits. Though whole frozen meals are perfectly fine too, because they pick dishes where it actually works. You can totally live off of nothing but frozen meals (the stuff you’d call TV-dinner in the US for some god forsaken reason) and probably have a significantly healthier diet than a lot of people.

Hah, that set of channel letters on a stringer is worth 4k USD at least.
