Battlefield 1, my previous favorite game, has like 8k players on Steam, I remember when it had 50k+. It’s hard to find a match now, all 3 of their titles are seemingly dead. Call of Duty Black Ops is alive, I guess. But for $70, they can get lost, that price is just stupid… I tried COD warzone and I am shocked at how buggy it is, like barely even playable for me on a freakin RTX 4080… wow.
So I’m curious what other FPS’s people play?

I love that your criteria for being dead is that you don’t like it.
It sounds like you like the large scale (32 or 64) battle FPS games, whoch are not as popular currently as they do tend into the issue you mention which is not having enough players makes matchmaking drag out happens faster than small team short round games.
I do play block ops 6 because it is one of a few cross platform games one friend enjoys. It isn’t terrible, just an average cod game, but it doesn’t have the vehicle maps like modern warfare and I kinda miss those.
I also play Helldivers 2 which is 3rd person that has first person aim down site options, although it is 4 player vs environment.
I do miss the battlefield games, they were hella fun back when I played them.
Hell Let Loose is a pretty active tactical shooter but it’s more tactics than fps
Give The Finals a try if you like gadgets, arena destruction, and fast gunplay.

Counter-Strike and PUBG are still in the top 10 most played games on Steam. CS is literally number 1.
Yeah I’m surprised nobody else mentioned CS, it’s kind of the eternal FPS in my mind
Arma Reforger has amazing community servers that mean you can always find somewhere to hop in and have fun.
