Got pretty close to the finishing Astral Chain, just 2 levels remaining. Nothing new to add though.
Finished Nier Replicant , well, at least got the first ending, Ending A. Now playing for Ending B, stopped at the front of last dungeon, so should finish this over the weekend. Then comes Ending C, Ending D and Ending E.
Generally I don’t playthrough the game again and again, but I am interested in seeing how they unfold the story, and since I am only doing the main quest in this playthrough it was pretty quick. There are still many questions, but the second playthrough is explaining a few things (and making us feel bad about some things).
So, what about all you? What have you been playing?
Did a little bit of TotK becuse I still haven’t finished all the shrines and I actually quite like the puzzles. Still got about 20 shrines left I think. I think that’s the last little completionist thing I’ll do in the game.
Nice, good luck!
Practicing for Frosty Faustings this weekend. I signed up for six brackets: Skullgirls, Them’s Fightin’ Herds, Under Night In-Birth II, Panel de Pon, Twinkle Star Sprites, and Mystery
god help me trying to grind them all
Welcome back! You disappeared for a while.
That Frosty Faustings looks interesting. Good luck with the competition!
I’m working on a few games right now, but I have a 4-month old and very limited time.
I’m in the middle of the Pokemon Scarlet DLC, and what to finish that up
I’ve started a new farm in Stardew Valley because it’s really easy to play for 5 or 10 minutes and then put down. I haven’t played yet with 1.6, so I’m excited to see what’s new.
I’ve also started gathering the supplies to start a new build in Minecraft, which I really want to make some progress on
Switch (or any handheld) is great for when you have a baby, you can take it with you, and play in small bursts, with just putting it to sleep whenever you have to put it down on a moment’s notice.
I have been meaning to start Stardew Valley again too, haven’t played it since it was released on Switch, and there has been tons of updates since then.
Brothership has been going smoothly. The islands all seem to be around the same size though, I’ve been hoping to find something chunkier every now and then. As of now, the gameplay loop is a little too small. But I’d like to give a huge shoutout to side quests straight up telling which ones will expire if you progress the main story! More games need to do that!
I misunderstood something about the main quests in Lightning Returns and I suddenly found myself done with them earlier than expected. I’m basically ready for the finale on Day 13, so now I’m spending the remaining 6 days exterminating all monsters in the world. I started with the two strongest ones before they grow even stronger. I don’t think I’ll beat the 11 Million HP superboss though. I’ll try, but I found out that he can straight up escape from combat when he’s under 25% health, rendering the whole fight meaningless and that seems too frustrating.
Yeah, it’s annoying when you miss out on a quest without knowing about it, so this sounds good.
Lightning Returns sounds like such a grind, but JRPGs often have that, bosses with tons of health, though them escaping when at 25% health sounds super annoying. Good luck!
Playing Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana!
Plenty of stress and anxiety at work this past week made it hard to get into a more story-focused game, so an old-school Action RPG worked a lot better.
This is a port of a 20 years old game, but it’s aged surprisingly well. Gameplay is fast-paced and generally quite fun, but there’s a few spots where it really shows it’s age. The lack of quest markers can lead to strange situations like when I spent a long time stuck on a dungeon only to find out I needed to go back and watch a cutscene I missed in the town, and there’s a wild variety in quality in bosses going from “amazingly fun” to “pure slog”.
Also, this game is quite hard, so be ready to die a lot on bosses, even on normal difficulty. But since those battles tend to be short and the game lets you retry it immediately it doesn’t end up being particularly frustrating.
I think I reached the final dungeon yesterday so I should be done over the weekend.
I just restarted Ys Origin! I love that game.
I am looking forward to playing this. It has been on my wishlist since Vita days.
If you’re interested in Oath in Felghana you may also want to take a peek at Ys Origins.
Runs on the same engine so it has the same fast-paced gameplay, and this one has multiple characters with different combat styles to make it more replayable.
It’s also on my wishlist 😀
I have a very long wishlist.
Minecraft comes to me again and again like phases. I was playing Better than Adventure this morning and I’m probably gonna play some more this weekend.
(also shoutouts to better than adventure, it’s a beta 1.7 mod but still the best vanilla+ mod i’ve ever played)
Not really into Minecraft, but will tell my kid about Better than Adventure, he is a big minecraft fan.
I keep playing Pokémon Omega Ruby here and there. I beat the 8 Gym leaders and am on Victory Road.
I went back to Metroid Prime 2: Echoes on the Game Cube this week. It’s fun, same stuff as the first one so far but with a different story. My left hand has been getting cramps when playing this game for too long, I might have to get a modern controller for Game Cube! 👴
I also started Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on the Switch yesterday. I originally got this game on the Wii, but the forced motion controls made me rage quit. Such an unnecessary gimmick… I am enjoying it now with normal controllers, it’s really fun and it looks great!
I realized I’m playing two games by Retro Studios! At least originally in the case of DKC… Both games have been a bit of a problem for me. When I am playing DKC I think “one more stage and I’m off” and in Metroid it’s “one more save point” and I end up playing for too long 😅
I wonder when, or even if, they will release Prime 2 and 3 remasters. I was planning to play Prime Remaster after Astral Chain, but now thinking about playing Future Redeemed first, so that I can have some time between that and X.
How’s the Returns HD difficulty? When compared with DKC or DKC 2
There’s a new rumour about a Nintendo Switch 1 exclusive Direct in February, maybe they’ll shadowdrop the remasters for Prime 2 and 3 then!
I think the difficulty is maybe a bit higher in Returns HD? I’m not sure. I’ve only been in one mining cart scene and it was quite stressful but I managed. I always go for the K O N G letters in every stage (not the puzzle pieces though) which makes it harder than just trying to get through it. It has a modern mode which apparently gives you extra lives and can’t remember what else. If it’s there, I use it, I’m not bothered to play on a more difficult setting just for the sake of it, and I don’t have the patience for it anymore. It’s getting harder as I advance, but I would have to go back and play some original DKC to compare it properly.
Ah, cool. Do we have enough first party stuff remaining for Switch to get a Direct? At this point, I am hoping they would be going all in for Switch 2 exclusives.
What happens when you are out of life? Game over?
Probably two games at once : worldoftankblitz and ragequit 🫠
lol, good luck!
