There was a British (I think?) TV show called “misfits” that was about some teenagers getting superpowers. One episode they fought against somebody that could control milk and laughed at him for his power - until he murdered them all by using the milk from their breakfast to stop their hearts. Great show in my memory.

All I promised was the lack of death in your future, my child. I never promised the presence of life.

I thought of the same episode when reading the post. Truly a great show with a new take on superpowers.

Pretty much En from Dorohedoro. Mushroom magic that at first glance may look silly until you realize the sort of destruction it is truly capable of.

Since the anime got cancelled afaik, is it worth reading the manga? What do you think?

Definitely. I powered through it after watching the series and it’s just as bizarre all the way through.

Absolutely! The anime is a very good adaptation, and going for a sort of baroque style was a good choice from Mappa, but there’s little bits here and there that have been cut, and Q Hayashida’s deliciously punk and bizarro style alone make a read worth it. If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve seen until now, let me tell you that it’s tame compared to the rest of the ride.

Its a great read, the plot is fun and as others mentioned the art especially is rather different (was initially taken aback but then loved it, its very fitting)

I only wish they had left out the fan service (which as usual was directed at men), which to me cheapened an otherwise excellent manga.

I’m about to finish it and I agree, the authors were very creative with how they have him use his magic.

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Bungie Gum has the properties of both rubber and gum.

    ゴミを木に変える能力!

Edit: I was hoping this comment would work without explanation, but the downvotes suggest that was wrong. It translates to “power to turn trash into trees!” Which was the ability of the titular character in Law of Ueki, an anime/manga full of these ridiculous powers.
