I really hope that’s the case. Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my GOAT games and FF 9 was great as well.

I’m so torn on the subject of a VI remake. On the one hand, it tickles my brain to think of what it would be like if given the full treatment à la VII Remake, but on the other hand I consider the game pretty much perfect as-is and don’t want it sullied.

To be fair, Intergrade and Rebirth remix some things that mean they don’t really replace the original game.

They’re doing something different with the story that we still haven’t had fully explained, which means I’m playing completely riveted to the story, with no idea what’ll happen, even though the original game has existed longer than I have.

And the gameplay is obviously completely different.

It means they’re more than “remakes”, imo. They’re more like adaptations, making changes that alter the source material to fit a new medium. Almost like going from book to TV.

And in the same way, both the “book” and the “TV Series” both remain worthy of being experienced. Different people might prefer one or the other, while others will insist the “full experience” is to engage with both. Either way, both add to the whole by existing.

The weird multiverse story changes to ff7 remake are hot garbage that nobody asked for.

I still haven’t played Part 2, but I’m pretty sure the remake trilogy is a stealth sequel.

I’m halfway through Rebirth, and shit has me so confused I stopped trusting any of my theories for what is going on.

It’s continued to be good though. Excellent even.

It did. It’s also on Switch and on Windows/Xbox as a Play Anywhere title on MS Store (buy once, get to play on both platforms). But from what I remember, FFIX was the one that needed the remaster treatment the least, as it plays fairly well on any emulator. FFVII and FFVIII, on the other hand, get more bearable with the built-in speed up button (which, yes, you can do on an emulator as well, but then the music gets sped up too and it gets annoying).

Well ff9 was the last one on ps1 so that makes sense.

I loved ff8 my only issue was magic was never used since I kept buffing my stats with it. Plus sci-fi time travel plot probably confused general audience and ff9 is safer. Which is sad cause the plot is what I loved about it most.

Exactly. 6, 8, and 10 are perfect the way they are and don’t need any remaster nonsense.

I love FFT ad FFTA but come on, give us a new one sometime. We’ve had like 10 remakes and ports of FFT

6, 7, 8, 9 is the golden age of the series. I have a favourite among those four, but let’s leave it at that.

FF8 didn’t do it for me, mostly because the gameplay was a terribly broken mess. I loved 12, though; the story is like the love child of Final Fantasy, Game of Thrones, and Star Wars, and the gameplay felt like a logical evolution of the ATB system for a fully 3D world.

I really liked the story and world aesthetic but the bobblehead character design is sooo off-putting to me. Zidane always reminded me a blond Chucky doll

The CG was rough. In-game models were OK. The worst part is how slow battles were. Those opening transitions were so slow.

I wish the Final Fantasy III 3D remake would be ported to consoles. I loved it on DS and always wanted to play it on a big screen. It came to phones, PSP, PC, and the Ouya of all things. So why the hell can’t I just play it on my Xbox? Sheesh.

(I actually considered getting an Ouya once just so I could play FF3 3D remake. Glad I didn’t.)
