Pretty sure that’s how right and left politicians work. I’m not saying it’s a good thing, that’s just generally how politics works now that impeachment means nothing, especially when people have such short memories.

Reminder that Liberalism is also a right-wing ideology, it’s just a bit more socially centrist than conservatism. You don’t really have much of a left-wing voice in US politics at all, beyond a couple of politicians, I’m afraid.
Actual left wing politicians are guided by ideology to primarily benefit the greatest number of people with their policy.
Right wing politicians are guided by ideology to primarily benefit those holding the greatest amount of capital with their policy.
Pretty much everything else follows from that.
It’s true, the range of ideological possibilities has been intentionally limited, here in the US. As Noam Chomsky said:

Next election? Kings don’t need elections. The “president” declared himself over every intentionally independent entity created by Congress. They all report to him now… So “election” spending, controlled by him. What’s allowed, controlled by him, what is allowed to air on television/media, only allowed by him. No media company can speak against him or they can legally be shut down and arrested because he and his attorney general alone can decide what is illegally performed by the media.
May he face a local peaceful January 6th style protest from his base soon.

It’s like they all had anemia and forget that Trump was running the country into the he ground pre-COVID. But COVID gave them all something to “own the libs” while millions of them claimed their Darwin Award. Not sure how any of them could truly believe he was going to do better for them this time around, when this time they even released their game plan ( Project 2025) before the election.
Anger without action is irrelevant.
They don’t care how angry people are because they know they will do nothing other than complain.

Probably a handful. But 35% of a congressional district is (in the lowest population district, which this one isn’t) is 190,780 people. You can easily get a small town community center full of people who voted against him and didn’t ask for any of this.

We need to embrace the people that are realizing they have made a mistake instead of vilifying them. We are all in this nightmare together and the only way out is for the rational to work together.
So we should embrace people who f=ing caused that? Them realizing they made a mistake will not matter if the current government will make voting against them even harder or even impossible.
A better approach would be to give them safe harbor.
If they feel they will be forever cast adrift, who do you think they’ll vote for next time?

Can’t share your optimism. I believe there is one strong bond that unifies what we now call Republicans and it’s a frightened pathetic hateful bigotry. Even when our goals might happen to align on details like this, I will never stand by their side. Fuck them, fuck them, fuck them.
If we can’t unite as a rational citizenry then we have no chance at making things better. We are all angry but if you want to fix it you have to start somewhere. I’d say the people that were trapped in propaganda cycles and are now realizing it are a really good place to start.
If they did all that, they’d be part of the solution. Surely that matters?

this ai will fix everything line. ai can help increase productivity but places have been understaffed so severely before it that there is no real room to get savings. at best it could bring quality back up to somewhat decent using 2023 staffing levels.
