The rebellion was the Vietnamese. It was an allegory. You’ve been in the empire the whole time.
At least as far the Star Wars is concerned, it was a Republic for a bit… Then IDK, something about the price of eggs and the Sith took over.
Episode I starts with trade wars. Sooo…
Meesa propose we give the chancellor emergency powers to lower the price of eggs!
So… Which planet is Trumpatine going to blow up first?
Yes!
Well, changing the scale to our world, it’s going to be a city/state. That’ll be Gaza or Ukraine I assume. Probably Gaza.
Found the tankie!
The fuck you on about, that is literally the allegory said by George Lucas himself https://www.amc.com/blogs/george-lucas-reveals-how-star-wars-was-influenced-by-the-vietnam-war--1005548
I know, it’s just a lot of tankies go “erm, ackchually, the US was always fascistic by Stalin’s definition of fascism”.
Fascism is capitalism in crisis, when it needs to use force to maintain the contradictions.
The US has always been imperialist and neoliberal, but the Fascism has only been really kicking into gear lately.
I won’t give you that until you blow up a military base, Mr. Hamill
Trump will build the Death Star in pure gold, that’s when we send in the big guns, 73 year old actor, Mark Hamill.
that’s a very unique flavour of depressing
It wouldn’t be pure gold. It’d be painted or plated with gold. He tries to be gaudy and likes what a poor man thinks rich people do, but he doesn’t actually have the wealth to do pure gold.
Um acktually Mark Hamill played a member of the Resistance as recently as 2019 in his iconic Star Wars role of Boolio the Ovissian (I am of course not counting the farcical Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy (2024) nor Hamill’s lesser pre-Resistance roles in The Book of Boba Fett (2021-2022) or The Mandalorian (2019-2023) series). He played a member of the Rebellion on film as recently as 1983. He’s going to have to proton torpedo a whole lot of fascists to get my forgiveness for making such an elementary error.
Fake fan. They’re photon torpedoes.
it fucks me up that star wars has somehow decided that their torpedoes are light-based but their lasers aren’t
Don’t take me too seriously. I’m doing a bit.
Qapla’!
glory to you and your house
Shal’kek nem’ron
indeed.
Well… Star Wars takes place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. It doesn’t matter when he took the role, he was playing a member of the Resitance a long time ago.
Apparently posting shit on the Internet counts as rebellion
Awesome we are the rebels and there really is an evil empire in power. Going to start wearing the logo now.
