Elon Musk is already being sued over the ultimatum he issued to federal workers over the weekend.
The Associated Press reports that the State Democracy Defenders Fund filed a newly amended lawsuit in a federal court in California on behalf of unions, businesses, veterans, and conservation organizations saying that Musk’s instructions for federal workers to list and explain five accomplishments from the previous week, or risk losing their jobs, violated the law.

Lawsuits don’t mean dick to the rich.
If it goes to court, and if they’re found guilty and if the judge actually imposes a penalty, then it’ll be a tiny sliver of their wealth. A tap on the wrist. They’ll pay it with a tax free loan.
Precisely. If one of us plebs gets sued, that’s essentially life over. You stand zero chance against an entire gaggle of Ivy league trained shysters working around the clock, no matter how much the ‘law’ is in your favor.

I’m so happy to get the slightest bit of good news lately. How awesome would it be if this unchecked rampant corruption and greed led to significant reforms for democracy and an era of consequences and litigation against the billionaires.
How awesome would it be if this was the collapse of capitalism in the utopia sense, as opposed to the ‘end of civilization’ sense. Maybe? :)

There was no way to vote out this problem. It didn’t start with Trump and it won’t end with Trump. The democratic party’s solution has been “never lose an election” and we saw their strategy in action when they lost.

The point is to cause obstruction and attention. Force them to show that they don’t respect the rule of law so everyone can see it, people like the idea of “mavericks who don’t bend a knee to bureaucracy” but when it’s obvious that they can (and will) take your livelihood without leaving you with any legal recourse, a lot of people are less enthusiastic. And if the courts actually put a stop to their efforts every now and then, it undermines their position of authority and shows that the power they claim to wield isn’t as far-reaching as they’d like to pretend.
They want people to give in without a fight, they want people to silently just accept their authority. Don’t give it to them for free.
Civil cases are not something you can pardon for, only criminal cases (and only federal criminal cases for the president)
Until he does it, law enforcement goes along with it, and suddenly it’s all “uh, actually, that’s never been tested, someone needs to sue over this so it can get kicked up to the Supreme Court in 5 years”.
All of the rules are useless if those in power simply ignore them, and those with the most guns don’t stop them.
