Summary
During an Oval Office meeting with British PM Keir Starmer, Trump walked back his recent criticism of Ukrainian President Zelensky, responding “Did I say that? I can’t believe I said that” when asked if he still considered Zelensky a “dictator.”
Trump claimed to have a “very good relationship” with Zelensky despite last week calling him a “dictator without elections” and suggesting he shouldn’t participate in peace negotiations.
Starmer corrected Trump’s claim that European aid to Ukraine was all loans, noting much was “gifted.”
Zelensky is scheduled to visit the White House on February 28 to finalize a critical minerals agreement.
If he were a dictator Trump would love him
And by some strange coincidence, the media have forgotten their earlier obsession with Presidential aged related cognitive decline.
Even if it isn’t that… that’s not how you change your position on something.
The normal way would be:
- Admit that you are changing your stance on something (Zelensky is not a dictator, even though I previously said he is)
- Refer to something that changed your position on the matter (“When I said he is a dictator, I did not know that…”)
- Explain how it changes your view (“This new information has convinced me that…”)
But saying “Oh, I said that?” is just… dumb and pathetic. Not that it’s surprising, coming from him.

They know it’s a lie and not cognitive decline. He wrote it in a Truth Social post, and said it in two different videos, all in the last two weeks.
It can be both #justsayin
Doublethink
dementia
Bit of column a, bit of column b…
Can’t a reporter ask him whether he’s lying or he just forgot? Senile, liar or both. Can’t decide which one is worse.
Edit: out->or
Trump has abused the system to punish reporters for less. You can’t trust him to answer a single question truthfully anyway.
Both is worse
Oh look, his age is setting in! He is forgetting things now!
Lets hope the aging process accelerates from now on.
Vance is a bigger threat IMO than Trump tbh. The weird stuff with him, Thiel, Yarvin, and the Dark Enlightment stuff is all terrifying.
Maybe but he’s not as, I’m gonna say “charismatic”, though. Maga love Trump himself, not his policy. It’s a cult of personality. Trump could turn on Vance and nobody would care.
yeah I agree with you there. The risk tho is if Vance becomes President he could probably mess up a whole lot of things quickly in line with their dark enlightenment insanity.
I’ll admit I don’t know much about him, especially being effectively relegated to assistant-vice-president, but I feel like he’d be a bit more stable foreign policy wise. Not necessarily better, but as a Canadian I think I’d sleep better with him as president than what we’ve got now.
True. It would be a gamble… Would the less crazy fringe of the Republican congress go along with Vance if daddy Trump isn’t there to protect him though? I don’t know. A lot of conservatives don’t really like Trump but they’re too afraid of the power he wields over them. It’s possible that would all collapse with Trump’s absence. Unfortunately I think Elon could provide a replacement celebrity to rally around… He brings his own f’ing cult.
What a fuckin’ mess.
FUBAR. That’s what it is.
sigh
The issue there is Trump already won the election. I’m not sure enough people would turn on Vance if he had some legitimate claim to power
On the one hand yes, but on the other hand, I really don’t want to see a power vacuum in this government right now. Before you know it, Elon announces himself the One True Successor™.
It already happened. Trump’s brain is cheese and he is letting Elron run everything.
Tomorrow he will say, he never said that, that’s fake news.
You certainly did.
Look right, you cant hold him accountable for things he said after he had taken his thinky-thinky pills.
You have to wait untill he’s had his wakey-wakey dust and then he says things he might remember.

Came in to say he’s using the Urkel defense.
