This is the issue with religious exemptions.

People (mostly rightwingers) will claim anything they don’t like is against their religion.

And since every religion is made up, it’s hard to call them on their bullshit.

Like COVID happened and suddenly millions of people belonged to a religion that forbades vaccines even tho most members were vaccinated for everything else and had their kids vaccinated for all that stuff too.

Lots of right wing extremists use religion as a shield and a sword.

That’s not true. Besides, the Pope back that long ago was just the bishop of Rome. Early Christianity was very much a fusion between Judaism and Greek Platonist philosophy, and the Bible itself has entire books written to Greek churches filled with gentiles.

Edit: By “that’s not true,” I meant that the church leaders for centuries were not Jewish. Of course Jesus and the apostles were.

Wasn’t Peter the first pope? Was Peter Jewish?

The title was applied posthumously. In fact, the title of pontifex maximus that is applied to the Pope is a far more ancient position than Christianity; Even Julius Caesar held the title before it transitioned into a Christian office.

So even ignoring the complicated history of what “Pope” even means, you declared that every pope, leader, and believer for centuries was Jewish.

So, you’ve got the first Pope “figured out.”

Who was the second, and where was he from?

I’ll give you a hint: he wasn’t Jewish.

The Bible itself were books chosen by a 4th century committee.

And how many Jewish representatives were on that committee?

It seems like if there are so many Jewish leaders in early Christianity you’d be able to name a single other one.

It frankly sounds like you don’t know what you’re talking about. The earliest Christian texts that we have are the writings of Paul, and he was evangelizing to gentiles.

It’s more than just being against Jesus’s “people” (both brown skinned and Jewish, things white supremacists hate), they also hate the teachings of Jesus, which would be considered socialist in nature these days, or “woke” even.

Cutting through all of their bullshit, these fascists just want to control the in-groups, and in America Christianity is one of the major in-group. Similar stuff is happening in India, where the Hindu nationalists have power and are growing more and more aggressive towards their Muslim country men and other minority groups. Once the major in-groups are under their control then the really fascist stuff starts happening, like forcing people into ghettos and concentration camps under the threat of violence, with secretive ultra-violence.

If you’re praying to take America back to a better time, congratulations, you’re a racist. The “golden age” was propped up by a Jim Crow enforced underclass.

They’re just losing their shit because the oligarchs are no longer interested in giving their poor white peasants preferential treatment. I’m honestly surprised they don’t start praying to Exxon and the like to bring that back.

        Then you’re in luck!

So long as our capitalists keep pumping carbon into the air to make and sell plastic crap, and they’re in charge so they will, then humanity appears to be a self-curing macro-cancer of the natural world.

The Earth is self-correcting. After we kill ourselves off by our own hands, the Earth will heal itself like it has after so many environmental catastrophes, and it will be as if we never existed, Thank goodness.

TLDR if that’s what you want, all you have to do is wait a few decades. popcorn is optional, but encouraged.

For what it’s worth, I hope you get to see the grand finale.

You can set your clock to the surety of our self-inflicted climate apocalypse, but we have capitalist controlled Artificial Intelligence and CRISPR derived biological weapon dark horses that may beat the climate to the punch, don’t give up hope!

So long as your hope is mankind’s delusions of grandeur and dominion finally coming home to roost, as mine is.

“GiveSendGo has clearly abandoned its original mission of ‘funding hope,’ instead becoming a tool for the Christian nationalist purveyors of hatred, disinformation, and political violence,” says Rev. Nathan Empsall, the executive director of Faithful America, a national Christian advocacy organization which launched a petition signed by 34,000 people condemning GiveSendGo’s hosting of extremist fundraisers. “As Christians, we are called to stand against authoritarianism and white supremacy, not give them a platform.”

There’s nothing respectable about this company. Hardcore Christians (evangelicals) in the USA are hateful pieces of shit. I mean, we all know this because we see how they vilify Trans people, but this is even more than I would have suspected. Doing the old both-sides saying you stand for free speech when people are romanticizing violence. Fuck GiveSendGo.

Pohlhaus — who believes that “America was on the side of evil during WW2” — is now building a compound in Maine.

    […]

Co-founder Jacob Wells told the same Canadian parliamentary hearing that GiveSendGo would not ban the KKK from the platform if what the Klan were fundraising for was legal: “We believe, completely to the core of our being,” he added, “that the danger of the suppression of speech is much more dangerous than the speech itself.” (Neither Wilson nor Wells responded to interview requests.) […]

And the head of the thuggish New England neo-Nazi group, NSC-131, is holding a pair of fundraisers for a deceased member who went by the handle “PurePower88.” One donor wrote: “I really wish you were here right now and we can all be smashing every Drag Queen Story Hour in New England.” The campaigns have raised more than $10,000.

Ironic. Hitler despised Christianity as “weak” and blamed it for destroying Western civilization.
