As part of the plan, the US has in principle agreed to lift all primary and secondary sanctions against Iran and to withdraw US combat forces from all bases in the region, the council said according to state media.

The council also said the US has recognized its continued control over the Strait of Hormuz. The council said controlled passage through the waterway would be carried out “in coordination with Iran’s armed forces,” according to the statement reported by state media.

So basically, the U.S. spent a shitload of money bombing Iran so that it could lift sanctions on Iran and leave them with a stranglehold over 20% of the worlds oil supply. Typical Trump “win”.

Not to mention the soft power forever lost.

This will be remembered as the dumbest error in geopolitical strategy.

As an 80s kid in Australia, everything about America was bigger and better. I remember my 4th grade teacher telling us we would be speaking Japanese in class if the yanks hadn’t stepped in and “saved us” in WWII.

that kind of reverence has completely evaporated now. Even people who dont pay attention to politics know that Trump caused this fuel crisis as a distraction from his habit of raping children.

That’s even funnier when you know the Japanese army was already at its breaking point from the invasion of China. They might have been able to pull off an invasion of Australia since all the population is coastal and the British Navy was busy sinking the Italians but they were bleeding out before Pearl Harbor.

If they could establish a supply chain then taking control of the arable region of Western Australia would have been trivial, that’s my understanding anyway.

I think its a ploy for defense contracts. Like a clearing out old inventory to get new stuff. Watch they said they need to spend tons of money on new missiles so they cant afford something

There’s so many versions of what the deal supposedly includes that we’re better off just ignoring it for now and waiting until the negotiations start and we get a decent idea of what it actually is. No way the UN agrees to lifting all security council resolutions, nor will the US agree to unrestricted enrichment or to withdraw it’s troops from regional bases, all of which are variously claimed to have been agreed on parts of the 10 point plan they forced on trump…

He thought he would win the war so what you mention are unentended consequences. Iran should have no sanctions on them to begin with

Iran won from day 1 and we didn’t even know. And apart from that, USA president, lied day after day and manipulated the markets only to make himself more stupid.
Why USA don’t fuck them selfs so they can realize the situation?

What? So we invaded Iran so that they could have more concessions from us than they did before? I mean fuck the US government so I don’t give a shit but if this is accurate it seems humiliating for them.

It seems prudent to maybe wait and find out what the real agreement is - there’s so many versions they’re claiming, and some of them are outlandish. This seems like Iran spinning this into a wild victory when negotiations haven’t even started - nor has the shooting stopped yet.

Google translate doesn’t have Farsi, but it gives the same transliteration for Dari, Persian, and whatever it means by just “Arabic” (MSA?): تاکو

Fwiw, Persian/Farsi, Dari, and Tajik are all closely related, even intelligible, variants of Persian, and Indo-European, so, related to Hindi and European languages. Arabic, or, rather, Modern Standard Arabic, has a bunch of variants spoken throughout MENA, is a semitic language, and is related to Hebrew and Ethiopian.
