90% of people do not need a 4-seat gas-guzzler with a massive trunk which literally outsizes a WW1 tank and a top speed of “yes”, they can get by perfectly fucking fine with a little electric moped-car where the rear seats are foldable and the trunk fits maybe 3 grocery bags.
Yeah. If I can carry 12-14kg from Costco on my bicycle pannier bags, a small car can handle most shopping trips for most people, most of the time. =p

EVs weren’t made to save the planet; they were made to save the car industry.
Theyre an improvement surely but mass transit, cycle lanes, and better urban planning are fundamentally more important to emphasize.
This article doesn’t even touch on the fact that tires and brake dust still contribute to unhealthy air quality and adverse health outcomes.

EVs do not wear breaks like a normal car. I keep having issues with mine needing to be cleaned and lubricated because they get such low usage.
The tire thing is valid though.
I wore like 2mm off my break pads in 60k miles. A nice win on car maintenance costs as well.
I had this with an 80s civic. It would shut gas off from the injectors when decelerating, and downshift hard. It meant the engine became an air pump, and car would slow without brakes. The brakes lasted so long I had to get a gear puller to pull the wheel rims off the hubs. They had corrosions bonded themselves together
This is how nearly all ICE cars have operated since the mid-90s. Most people just haven’t learned to take advantage, and still drive full speed up to red lights and slam on the brakes at the last second.
My original brake pads in my '17 Nissan Micra 5spd went 100k kms before failing inspection.
I borrowed a friends Chrysler which was newer and it just goes into disconnected from engine coast mode when you let off the gas. It was hard to adjust to

Because most of our cities are designed in a way that makes going to the places we need to get to very difficult without a car.
