No need to evolve further if you’re already perfect

Fake news. Horseshoe crabs have evolved equally as much as every other existing species. The difference is they have a highly effective form for the environments they have survived in. Other forms either diverged or went extinct while this version continues to be very good at survival.

I think I read somewhere that all beetlemoses comics are taking place in the same universe. So here is another horseshoe crab comic of theirs

One of the Easter eggs of this quote is that when it was uttered in the 1980s BBC TV adaptation, the scene cuts to a man, seen only from the back, disposing of his clothes and possessions and walking naked into the ocean. That man was Douglas Adams.

Damned blue bloods. Thinking they’re better than everybody else.

I’ve seen a lot of them in person. 10/10 creepy.

Fun facts about horseshoe crabs:

• Not crabs, in fact not even close. Chelicerates like the arachnids.
• Have photoreceptors in their “tail” (telson).

Edit: For some taxonomic context, king crabs are closer than shrimp are closer than woodlouse are closer than barnacles are closer than bees are closer than myriapods (centipedes and millipedes) are closer than horseshoe crabs to being crabs.
