Time to imaginary crush some imaginary invaders!
Is that backlit? How? Gimme.
I did one a few years ago. the total kit was around $200. this included the screen, some solder kit to modify brightness, and a new front screen glass.
I also took the opportunity to upgrade the case and li-ion battery.
all for a Christmas present for my kids that they never play…
… Why not using an SP instead ?
SPs have hinges and don’t fair well with children. also, the handheld format is smaller so it’s slightly more difficult for children to hold onto.
finally, I had a crusty advanced from goodwill I had bought for around $3 that was the base.
There’ve been tens of mods over the years for backlighting a GBA v1. Nowadays there’s clone hardware that plays anything via emulator.
I’m using an Anbernic clone. It also plays older gameboy games, some arcade cabinet games, NES, etc.
Build quality is not as good as I remember the gameboy being, but it’s still pretty decent. Especially for ~$70.
Nice choice in Advance Wars👌
The years of my life spent playing that game
Me too! Single player and multi!! Hours spent passing the GBA around to take our turns.
Is advance wars 2 better than 1?
yeah, the campaign is much more fun
never played PvP on AW1 but I can attest that’s it’s excellent on 2
yeah, the campaign is much more fun
I remember it being all fun and games until you had to spend a bunch of turns blowing up impassable pipelines, then it got brutal hard. 💀💀💀
Purple GBA is best GBA
translucent lime green glow in the dark is best gba
no I’m not biased

shrekboy
Purple transparent
That’s “atomic purple”. The original purple GBA is “indigo”.
Looking at the thumbnail, I was trying to figure out why Groot was staring at you…
Are you in West Virginia? Because the photo makes it seem like almost heaven.
Hopefully not being in the US would suck
Slow days are best days.
