You will take your spyware infused Chromium and you will like it.

Chromium has spyware installed by default.

Microsoft at least removed most of Chromes trackers, while adding their own.

But I’d trust Microsoft a hell of a lot more than Google.

If you’re using Linux, obviously you wouldn’t be using Edge.

Says you, it’s pretty good for streaming 1080p content sometimes. For a while it was the only way to get 1080p streams from Netflix on Linux so it does have limited utility.

I’m confused, does this meme think it is a good browser? If so, where’s the meme?

      The meme is incomplete.

The man asked the woman how she thinks she is perceived. She answers wrong multiple times and then he lets her know the reality. (I think—I’ve never seen it).
So in this version of the meme the man asks Edge how it thinks it’s perceived and it answers incorrectly.

Edge is not good. It is, at best, ok. It constantly gets in your way with its invasive “features”. And the only parts of it that are good are the parts of it that are Chromium. Use any other better Chromium based browser if you want those.

Is this a compliment to Google? Edge is just chromium with few eye candies, custom settings and original tracking system replaced by Microsoft tracking system.

We know it is a good browser, Google engineers are in general good engineers

It was much better than Chrome as a Chromium browser, but then… Well, back to using non-Chromium.

I mean… Maybe… Tastes I guess… I don’t know, it looks and feel like chrome/chromium to me… Because it is. That are objectively pretty solid browsers. So it is edge, I’d say. I don’t see anything notable. Just another flavor of chrome

Chrome is Google, and it is based on chromium, an open source project

Android is also open source and developed by Google… these aren’t mutually exclusive

If you want chromium without Google get ‘ungoogled chromium’

A project being open source does not mean it isn’t owned and controlled by a company. Chromium is entirely controlled by Google. It accepts contributions and fixes from others, but Google has the last say on everything, so it still has lots of Google telemetry.

        First: it’s not

Second: Microsoft could make the best Jesus Brower that automatically gives me access to heaven and I’d still refuse to use it. Microsoft WILL abuse it, they will fuck over the users and they will use it to destroy any competition when they can, because that is what Microsoft does. It’s what they’ve been doing for the past 30 years and they won’t ever stop. Fuck everything about and from Microsoft.

Microsofts shenanigans with forcing you to use their browser is just ridiculous. They do allow you to switch to another browser but make it as annoying as possible and they constantly try to annoy you into switching again. I mean they own the whole os. They could literally just force you to use the browser and I bet nobody would care for like more than a month because windows is like the only feasible choice as an operating system for a lot of people.

They tried that a long while back. They got slapped down hard legally because that’s a monopolistic business practice and is illegal.

Yeah and now they’re inching their way into doing it again because fines are just the cost of business. Windows search can’t use anything but Edge and Bing for example, and they’ve deliberately broken the modifications that allow you to work around that, multiple times. They made it much more difficult to switch default browsers, they made it so that if you tried to uninstall it it would come back the next time you updated, etc

I used to love it, but now they keep adding annoying things like Bing chat, Bing chilling, Bing bros

It’s annoying having to find these hidden ass settings and disable it. So I just use firefox

It’s Chromium in different (Microsoft branded) clothes with whatever gewgaws Microsoft can hang off it for contractual income. Occasionally there’s a good reason to use edge over Chromium, but that’s limited to shit like “it can stream 1080p content from Netflix” and such. It’s not outright bad like ie was but I don’t see the reason to use it daily over, say, Chromium.

Edge is good, yeah, but there are way better alternatives out there (privacy speaking). The closest ones being Vivaldi (in terms of features) and Floorp (Firefox fork).

I use Firefox because it came with Ubuntu and because I haven’t had any issues with it, but I would’ve used Vivaldi if it weren’t the case.

Vivaldi mobile is goated for having a bottom bar + tabs.

Vivaldi desktop feels a bit clunky to me, I think edge beats it out in terms of performance and being more lightweight.
