Researchers from the Complexity Science Hub now show why The Line should not be a showcase for future cities.
Obligatory “Adam Something” video on this topic: https://youtu.be/vyWaax07_ks
I mean… No need to be an expert in urban planning or architecture to see this project makes absolutely no practical sense. It’s merely one more totalitarian leader’s lunatic dick contest.
When I saw an image illustrating the project, I was like WTF!
I don’t see how this can work well in reality. When it doesn’t seem to work in theory, it’s usually much worse in reality.
That said. I didn’t even consider it worth looking further into. If they build it, I hope I’m wrong though.
Every point is a single point of failure. You can’t even detour around an accident.
Great for parades though!
I have no knowledge of city planning, architecture, or anything related to building such a massive structure, yet I struggle to see how this isn’t a terrible idea.
To be fair, they’re clearly trying to optimize for minimal distance to the city edge instead of maximal connectivity within the city. I have no idea why that would be a good thing, but that’s what criticism of the plan should address.
I think its a terraforming attempt.
