Tour was 9. Apparently they’re working on “MKX” for switch 2, but it’s all just rumors with zero evidence.

But just know they’re not going to make Mario Kart: Amiibo Festival then wait a generation and follow it up by Mario Kart: New Horizons, where they promise you more content, but retract that promise the instant it hits the #1 unique seller for the platform and leave it with less content than Mario Kart 8.
At some point, it’s had to hit full saturation.
Fuck, even I bought the game, and I’ve been a simcade Forza/Gran Turismo addict for years, haven’t played MK since the N64.

they should make Mario Kart open world and marry it with Need For Speed => Mario Kart Underground.

Also add a subplot involving an underground crime ring stealing VCR/DVD combo units.
I think Nintendo Kart would be a nice follow-up, with stuff from all of Nintendo’s IP.

Yes, but it’s still 90% Mario. There’s a lot of new stuff they could introduce if they bring in not just new characters, but tracks, weapons, and mechanics themed on other IPs.

I just got into it again. I played through 7 and put it away. Begrudgingly bought 8 for the kids and decided it was the same game. Started playing with the wife because she was into it suddenly, just in time for the dlc.

The latest one is “Mario Kart Arcade GP VR” how can you call yourself a “gamer” if you don’t have four of these machines in your living room? Smh
I actually built my own go-kart track next to a tortoise sanctuary and a banana plantation for the true experience, casual!

I just meant in the sense that it was in the top 20 games in the US. Of course its the most popular mario kart game at the time, but I had no idea people play it enough to generate a concurrent playerbase that large.
With the general lack of content beyond the initial unlocks/DLC and track packs, I wouldn’t think there was that many people playing essentially becomes a time trial game every day. Then again I play wow now so maybe I do understand.
This is to do with sales, not any concurrent active player metric. Even if it weren’t though, Mario Kart is about playing with friends locally!
Just need to get some friends…

I am. Played pretty hardcore between 2014 - 2016. Didn’t realize it was still going strong.
