The worst thing about wanting to know everything is that the more you know, you more start to comprehend that you actually know nothing.

Or the more you know the worse and worse the world seems and your only gift for that knowledge is pain

The funny part about that is you eventually come back around.

The vast majority of humanity is doing their part. Most in small ways and few in ways that change the world every day.

Humanity will always prevail with the general masses benefiting no matter how many scummy people try to exploit us, the earth, and eventually other solar bodies.

Feudalism: God picks the king. Or the king picks the king.

Socialism: There are no kings, but the central committee, led by the director, who picks the next director.

Capitalism: spin now and you might be lucky enough to be a king, anybody could be the king! terms and conditions apply

Alternatively, we will go extinct having never left this solar body because of the long standing history of scummy people that would rather make profit now than address climate change

Depends on what you’re knowing. The world only starts to look worse and worse when you learn more about geopolitics and climate change. I’ve never had new knowledge about orbital mechanics or lockpicking or 3d printing give me a negative outlook on life

      That’s been my problem.

When I was young I thought, “Man, I’m intelligent and I’m surrounded by idiots. I want to learn. They don’t.

Now, I’m just an idiot among idiots.

Not sure that’s the worst thing. The humility that brings is one of the most profound discoveries someone can make imo. You can almost feel it in people of high intellect that have tried to know everything about almost anything. Realizing this allows you to recognize that arrogance always equals ignorance.

Naaaah mate. I am currently stuck in the worst place. While still curious about shit, I know enough for the world to lose it’s magic but not enough to see the even deeper magic within various phenomena. :(

That’s a nice community, maybe we can spotlight it through out Community Spotlight feature. I’ll suggest it!

In reality, I do a lot of learning for work (I’m a psychotherapist, there is always new stuff coming out and new certifications and trainings to take. We have to take a certain number of credits annually, and I always exceed that number). Add in keeping up with US and world politics and news… I’m spent. I need the maymays to zone out. Give me all the raccoons and opossums you’ve got!

There’s just too much… between work, home life details, and trying to pay attention to the state of the world on 20 different fronts, I just don’t feel like I have the bandwidth to be like “gee, I’m going to pick up a new skill today!” I need that downtime to veg on the couch and look at memes, it’s way less exhausting.

Dude I’m trying to learn how to program. Some days I can’t even get started until midnight when tired brain is kicking in. There’s just not enough time in the day.

Find something programming related that really interests your curiosity no matter how useless and work on that. Nothing motivates learning like having something you want to do with the skill beyond “so I can make more money”.

Maybe you want to learn networking protocols and data parsing and connectivity, make a trojan horse, or a packet sniffer, or a key logger.

Maybe you want to understand algorithmic processing and wrap your head around design principles, build a calculator that intentionally doesn’t work and produces funny results.

Maybe you want to get into game development? Make a dope wars clone.

You have to find your interest, after that the motivation finds itself.

trapped in a pleasure cycle, doing nothing but scrolling and clicking for a moment of feeling good, while you numb yourself with whatever substance or behavior you prefer that can amplify that feeling, but that too becomes numb

you have to break that cycle if you want that childhood sense of wonder again.

I didnt know about Pronghorns or Okapi until this morning. The bedrock and java edition of java are different but bedrock actually has a wonderful level of convenience to it that I feel jealous of. I also saved about a dozen memes and they’re probably all about being gay or something idk.
