(posting to both communities)

A carnist lemmy world instance admin has stepped in and meatsplained to the mods while restoring comments that violated the community’s rules. They deleted comments that they did not agree with, citing ‘misinformation’, and threatened to demod the mods if those comments were removed again. The comments were deleted and the admin was banned from the community as per violating the rules of the community, that was until they unbanned themselves (admin abuse) and unmodded two of the moderators because of “promoting harmfull actions against pets”.

As far as it stands, if the lemmy world community wasn’t already not a safe vegan place for you (it really wasn’t) it most certainly isn’t now as carnists (lemmy world instance admin) currently mod it.

I suggest any vegan who wants a safe and welcoming space to come and interact with vegantheoryclub.org. Sorry for any inconvienance that this may have caused. I am deeply upset at the admins actions today and don’t condone them whatsoever.

Speaking as a vegan, safe spaces are boring echo chambers. Let’s stop pretending that this thrift shop link depository is some relevant real world institution. Someone pays for the bandwidth and those guys can be as hitler as they like towards the rest. Speaking as a psychologist (real talk), my advice is stop paying attention to who removed what and why, for your own good. It’s a pile of shit, you shat some, someone else shat their own and they removed yours. It’s all just shit anyway.

I’m not gonna lose sleep but people should know how the world admins behave and use that info when deciding where to set up their ‘thrift shop link depositories’

Honestly, coming from someone who would even write “you’re a shitty psychologist” it probably should be taken as a compliment

You’re victim blaming and using false equivalency fallacy in your argument.

As someone who doesn’t know anything about the incident, is there any chance you can clarify things more?

Steak lover here, and I promise you that the opposite type of communities are also pretty boring. Get any group of veg(etari)anism haters together, and eventually someone will mention the lawnmower joke as if they thought of it themselves. Maybe I smiled a bit when I first heard it as a tween some 30 years ago, but it’s not exactly comedy gold.

It basically boils down to “Do vegetarians get hungry when they notice the scent of a freshly mowed lawn? Durrrr”. Like I said, not exactly comedy gold, but it routinely shows up whenever a group starts to rip on vegetarians for no particular reason.

That was not my point of confusion.

I agree and am happy that you find these “communities of often boring cis-males with a poor sense of humour and probably a background of being bullies to feel better than others” bad.

But introducing oneself as a “steak lover” in a vegan community is still extremely edgy. Not like we dont like steak, but we prioritize being humane and not fucking up the environment.

So yeah, steak lovers can fuck off, while as a human you are welcome here.

I hope you get what I mean.
