Listen, I know I’m probably going to take some flack for this…but I hate Kira Nerys. There’s something about her character that irks me so bad. I roll my eyes all the time when she speaks. I’ll normally click next on her episodes. Everyone else on the cast is great, she’s just so annoying to me. She’s almost worse than NG Wesley… :) /rant

I’m with you in this one. But I also think this is a case of having one OK character in a cast otherwise full of suberb ones. I still roll my eyes though when she gets all intense.

I really liked the character, but the only thing I couldn’t stand was her laugh.

Hey different strokes for different folks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But personally I love her. Tough as nails, hardened but hopeful. Actually a reasonably well written woman in scifi, which in the '90s was pretty rare.

So of course over the years her uniform became a catsuit (obligatory “fuck you, Rick Berman”).

The uniform change didn’t bug me as much as the other catsuits. With the entirety of the Starfleet crew getting new higher quality uniforms, the Bajoran crew really needed uniforms of equivalent quality, and Kira’s outfit still matches the style. It mostly bugs me that only Kira got a new outfit while Odo and the extras kept the lower quality ones.

Brah, I hear ya brah, me too, sort of, but the thing is, DS9 shouldn’t have existed at all and yet for seven seasons it kicked out the jamz on everything as one of the best Treks ever - and Kira is one of the main characters. You ultimately gotta just roll with it. I love the character, and the actress is great - for me it’s just . . . the Sheena Easton look. Bleah. The hair and makeup straight out of a Nagle print, with a big dangly earring - just, no. It gets slightly better over the seasons.

But character-wise, she’s our McCoy, if McCoy were allowed to lead story arcs.
