Many of the 2,000 Alabama households impacted had already seen the funds credited to their accounts and will have to pay the money back on their next bill.
I saw a MAGoo post that he knew that Trump’s polices would hurt him personally, and he voted for them anyway. Somehow, he managed to convince himself that America had to suffer to be great again.
I mean its not a completely absurd concept that you sometimes need to deal with short term hardships to achieve longterm greatness. Its just that in this case, the hardships dont actually help at all and are purely negative with little to no positives short or longterm.
So when Hitler came to power, even the communists had this idea that, “Oh let him come to power – he’ll be exposed as being totally inefficient and will fall from power and we’ll have the communist revolution”.
Go back and look up Jerry Falwell. He was a Right Wing Christian who organized a “Moral Majority.”
His people grabbed the GOP by doing grassroots politics. If the local Republican organization had had twenty people at the meeting that picked the last candidate for county clerk, the MM’s would show up with fifty people. They grabbed up a lot of ‘unimportant’ positions and were soon able to get their candidates for higher offices nominated.
imho most people on the Left are unwilling to do that kind of low level day-to-day organizing.
They forget that MLK didn’t just lead marches, he got voters registered too.
That is correct, the people supporting Bernie were optimistic it would just pan out and didn’t put in the effort needed to get the movement going. Obama’s campaign did put in the work with a positive progressive message (hope and change) and that worked out pretty well.
Unfortunately nothing was learned from that success and the Dems went right back to trying to appeal to moderates instead of embracing Bernie or another progressive.
The way I look at it is that there was a fire in 2024. The firemen were old and fat and not doing a very good job. Instead of jumping in and actually helping the firemen, a lot of folks thought they were helping by calling the firemen bad at their job.
Yea I don’t know what it was like in the early ‘30s but, today, if someone couldn’t already see how awful the right is for the world then this administration really isn’t going to change any of that person’s worthless views.
Yeah, I read that one too. Some thing about how in the long term after Trump is no longer president how America will be better off. Fucking douche canoe also forgot that America doesn’t actually manufacture anything so there’s no industry to protect with high tariffs.
Just 5% of those 90 million would do it, actually. Or put another way, the margin of people who turned up to vote for Biden but didn’t turn up for Harris, sadly.
Is that the one who said he may lose his job, but he’d be ok because he had worked to make himself employable unlike all those other people who may lose their jobs?
Unfortunately that is true and part of the reason they are doing it. Their own people are just collateral. They don’t care and this isn’t the first time this has happened.
I feel bad for anyone in Alabama who actually voted Blue. Same as Trxas, its deep red- but I have a huge number of friends who had to relocate to Houston because our company moved their headquarters there and now they’re stuck in this little island of liberal surrounded by gun toting Republicans…
Oh, I get it. I even feel compassion for some of them, even though they don’t have the education, vocabulary or sense to put it into words.
The problem is that most Americans, whether they live in a red state blue state, are unhappy with the way things that have been proceeding for the last 30 - 40+ years. Their way of life has changed. They’ve watched businesses and wealthy and enrich themselves on their hard work and they’re angry that they don’t have a piece of that pie anymore.
They happen to be mad because for the last, I don’t know how many decades politicians, the media, and every preacher trying to convinced them that it’s black people, or immigrants, or liberals, or Democrats, pick a flavor something to hate.
So now they are cheering for the dismantlement of the government and the society that left them behind. They are mad at the wrong people for the wrong things.
President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.“
Yeah, they’re too dumb to notice they’re being conned. I grew up in New York, so I know all about Donald Trump and all his slimeball bullshit And I still find it hard to believe why a bunch of rural farmers and rust belt laborers Believe in a sleazy racist multiple failure of a fake businessman that is Donald Trump.
He could literally care less about some country yokel while he pretends to be an elite New Yorker. Blows my mind that he is the person that all these idiots decided is their champion. How the fuck did Donald Trump convinced the bottom third of the voting public That he was going to fix everything for them?
And it’s fun to watch them all start to get fucked in the ass by Trump for the second time while they’re cheering about it, Unfortunately it is the demise of the country.

I grew up on Kansas in the 80s/90s and knew that he was a slime ball piece of shit. Was completely blindsided when the morons around me praised him for caring about them while also vilifying liberals for being wealthy city folk. It was the most blatant display of cognitive dissonance I’ve ever seen.
Then the news saying he appealed to the rural voters by listening to their concerns was fucking wild, since liberals had been doing the exact same thing for decades!
I remember Chomksy commenting on the “Angry White Man” phenomenon being talked about in the 90s. He said they have a right to be mad (about the financial things), but they have it all wrong about what caused them to be mad…as relevant today as ever.
Get fucked! This is what you voted for! Screw the libs who have been paying your fucking utility bills.

I’m sure people will catch on this time! Not that they did during his first term, but surely they will catch on this time!
I gave money to Bernie in 2016, 2020, and 2024. every time people told me that there’d be a giant wave of progressives who’d push him over the top.
They were being optimistic and it didn’t pan out.

Almost nobody had any hardships because of the New Deal. The few people who did were landowners whose property was flooded by the TVA.
Mel Gibson tweeted something about ‘daddy’s home and he’s got the belt out.’ It’s not about the progress, it’s about the punishment.

The only thing we can do now is try to get the 90 million people who didn’t vote on our side.
The MAGoos are a lost cause.
Just 5% of those 90 million would do it, actually. Or put another way, the margin of people who turned up to vote for Biden but didn’t turn up for Harris, sadly.
Don’t get me started on that crowd.
Is that the one who said he may lose his job, but he’d be ok because he had worked to make himself employable unlike all those other people who may lose their jobs?
That’s the one I saw. Fucking 🤡

You made the same comment twice. It happens to the best of us.
Weird. I swear I only hit the button once. Thanks for letting me know.
Jesus. Basically 2:1…
Except that this will disproportionately impact low-income communities of color that vote predominantly blue.
The ones who bother to vote, that is

It is being dismantled by the same wealthy shits. These people are fucking morons.
