Calling everyone right of you a fascist dissolves the unity of the left and erases the meaning of “fascist”. Neoliberalism is inherently right-wing and the Democrats have done plenty that deserves criticism, but America has, in the main, become more progressive and egalitarian over the past few decades under Democrat law-making. “Democrats welcome fascism” is an ignorant insinuation and you know it.

What “left”? The Democrats are a moderate right-wing party that have done more to keep actual left-wingers out of power than the Republicans.

The Democrats are a moderate right-wing party

          Indeed, I said that already.

done more to keep actual left-wingers out of power

“The two-party system is driven by self-interest and inherently protects capitalism” is substantially more nuanced and accurate than “Democrats want fascism”. The latter is still unhelpful and, in the main, untrue.

I think treating the Neoliberals or the Fascists as allies is unhelpful.

            They aren’t.

Treating the Neoliberals as allies since their former opposition got them on the take in the 70s and 80s is why we’re here. The right leads the charge into fascism every cycle, and their “opposition” meets them in the new middle, but with affirmation ribbons instead of scapegoats, all the while both enabling murder for profit and mass homelessness to threaten the laborers.

The Democrat party doesn’t care if it loses. That’s part of the grift. What it cares about is losing its half of the corpo bribe gravy train, which is why They would be treating a spoiler President like AOC the way we wish they were treating Trump.

It’s all been a game of social symptom good cop/bad cop while defending the oligarchs from the needs and demands of the people they consume by stoking and magnifying social division on issues that don’t effect private profits, which is why half of America generally revels in the pain of the other half. Every bully pulpit, from for profit “news” to political podiums have been demanding we hate one another for half a century, and propaganda works.

Divide and profit. We need hot revolution starting with doing so much more to the capital markets than occupy them.

Or more likely, we’ll continue to submit to this Hell of greed and antisocial cruelty like cowards until the planet itself handles the problem in a couple decades. Either way, I’m glad this situation can’t continue for hundreds or thousands of years.

Unchecked capitalism is always a race to fascism. Neoliberalism opens the door for fascism. Putting the wellbeing of our beloved economy aka our robber barons over human life as both parties proudly do can only lead to dehumanizion when profit/growth/metastasis expectations aren’t being met. Powerless people to blame for society’s suffering rather than the greed class that is responsible.

I agree with all of this. But “not allies” and “in bed with fascists” are markedly different accusations. I still don’t see it as helpful to paint Democratic representatives as being welcoming of fascism – once you step into the rhetorical window of “they didn’t do enough to halt fascism, so they’re basically fascists too”, you lose the ability to call out actual fascism.

Democrats are centrist, not the left. Let’s see how that decorum works out for you.

Because they have a long history of pushing for civil rights of minority groups. There have been many tangible gains over the last 6 decades. Are you just very young and don’t know how bad things were before improvements pushed primarily by Democrats?

Since when? For my entire life they’ve been more concerned with bipartisanship and appeasing right-wingers than opposing them.

          Are you 5?

ETA: hell, even a 5 year old would have lived thru the implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act, so no, that excuse doesn’t fly, either

Apparently that’s all you can remember. Might wanna start reading about bills that didn’t get passed due to Reps blocking their success. And maybe the existence of the CFPB (a bit moot now), or the ACA.

Trolling isn’t a good job for you, so don’t quit your day job.

That’s one data point from three decades ago. If the Democrats have “done nothing” then there’d be nothing to fear from Republicans rolling back all the things “Democrats didn’t do.” Yet, here we are, right?

Workplace protections, loan forgiveness, the entirety of the CFPB, etc, etc, are all things Democrats have done to improve lives. To argue otherwise feels disingenuous.

In other words you don’t have any substantive evidence that democrats have never done anything remotely progressive.
