Yeah, my real opinion isn’t “Yay Jellico”, more “Jellico has a different management and negociation sense than Picard and it’s being done in a way that the crew are not expecting/are used to”.
You’re right that the changes were implemented in a very quick way, but I also remember the EP explaining “there’s not time to lose!”
Look his previous crew had a good union and he had to give them PTO too. In a society that didn’t have pay that was big of him. He just wanted to honor his collective bargaining agreement.
While also home cooking most of his meals
The most unrealistic part of Star Trek is how much time they seem to have in a day.
When you don’t have a bullshit job to do, I can imagine personal times being more available than 21st century.
that was one of PICARDS QOUTE in tng, you have more time to improve yourself, with none of the other distractions.
And that’s with a three shift rotation. Imagine if Jelico got his way with a four shift rotation, giving everyone a six hour work day.
Some viewers : Jellico is an asshole!
Jellico : I want 2 more hours of free time for everyone!
It’s kinda of an asshole move to just go and impose that change suddenly in a situation of emergency without any planing at all.

after TNG, he became a sniveling senator, that was host to a goauld.
is this a Stargate meme I’m not… IDFK enough to understand?
Yea senator Kinsey in Stargate sg-1 is played by the same actor.
hes also a major thorn on sg1 side, he eventually was taken over by a gouald,
spoiler
his fate was never revealed after that episode, likely escaped from the alkesh. Many fans think he escaped, as sg1 never brought him up again.
To be fair, Sisko and the others on Deep Space 9 do have a 26 hour day.
in space, a day is inconsequential.
Yeah what the fuck. I propose we make each second 12/13 as long so we can have 26 hours.
Post-scarcity society, it tracks.
I’m not so sure about “most.” Seemed more like special occasions to me.
