I wish DYSDPWBPU had a better ring to it.

Edit: Yes, It’s from The Orville, but it’s good Trek, damn it. lol

Bonus meme:

'He Gets Us' parody saying "she gets us" over an image of Dolly Parton

This scene absolutely deserves to stand shoulder to shoulder with any Trek scene, new or old. It’s scenes like this that earn The Orville recognition as honorary Star Trek, and not only a parody.

Galaxy Quest has scenes that also make it into this category.

It’s less of a parody and more of an homage for me. There’s humor, but there’s humor in every day life.

It was MacFarlane making his own Star Trek with blackjack and hookers.

      Absolutely.

The moment The Orville established itself as a solid Trek for me (vs parody) was its first courtroom episode.

Dolly Parton is a national treasure. She established a charity to gift books to children almost 3 decades ago, and it’s grown significantly since.

If any of yall have kids, sign the fuck up. 1 book a month till they’re five. Thats 60 book guys. Plus your kid gets mail, and that is a treasure in itself.

Man, I’ve got family that received some of those books. The program brings more good to people’s lives than I think anyone that hasn’t seen it directly realizes.

Even if Dolly was a fairly typical celebrity otherwise, and did that, i’d still have nothing but love for her.

I just happened to notice that Captain Pike, while trapped in his chair, only able to make beep beep noises, at least has full control of his chair operating system by running LineageOs.

LineageOS Logo - also the logo on Pike's chair

Like, if I were asked by extraterrestrials to provide them with examples of the human experience, I would give them biographies of Dolly Parton, Fred Rogers, Carl Sagan, Nicola Tesla, Stephen Hawking, Bob Ross, and many others who I feel are the best among us. Who best exemplify humanity. Granted not all of us have lived up to those examples, and not many will, but they are quite possibly the best humans.

Never meet your heros. Stephen Hawking went to Epsteins island, apparently. People are complex and multifaceted, and most have darkness inside them that their public image obscures.

I really want to know why Sync fails to grab some images/gifs. This post is one of those I cannot see.
