    Trump doesn’t pay his bills.

they should have just started seizing properties already.

Why haven’t they? Didn’t they give him a 10-day extension? It’s been more than that, and he doesn’t have a proper bond. What’s holding everything up now?

How can he be perceived as rich but can’t put the money up for the appeal? It can’t be both.

Perception is not based on reality.

In any case he technically owns millions/billions in assets, but it’s very likely that he’s lived by taking out loans on capital gains, and that every tangible asset he has is already leveraged as collateral for that.

Which means none of his properties are actually able to serve as collateral in a bond agreement (where whatever company puts up the cash and deals with the hassle of selling and maybe not getting enough to cover it. So they usually take more in collateral.)

I am repeatedly pressing the upvote button. Common, take his property already! Time for the fire sale!

The court shouldn’t accept the bond until this shady racket has proven its ability to cover it completely and signed a contract saying they’ll do so. Excellent reporting by the Daily Beast.

Instead, they’ll admit that securing a proper $175M bond is just too difficult for Trump. So how about $17.5M, due in another 15 days.

Trump is doing an amazing job of highlighting shady businesses.

I hope this one can also be removed.

Trump may be destroying faith in the American legal system with his constant attacks, but what’s been even harder on my faith is the way the various justice departments have handled him and his cases. Edit: Trump doesn’t (or at least shouldn’t) get to decide how or when courts prosecute crimes yet it’s rarely been clearer that there’s two tiers of treatment. I think the officials involved should be considered accountable.

The wealthy and influential are permitted to avoid consequences in ways a normal citizen never could. In the USA in 2024, we have proof that you can avoid jail time, attack officials online, reduce your punishment and delay to your heart’s content as long as you are in some way powerful. Even after confessing to crimes multiple times and being specifically told to stop.
