I don’t know exactly when 196 became an unofficial furry hotspot, but I’m here for it.
It just sort of happens whenever there’s enough queer folk in one place. XD
I’m not saying every 196 user is an autistic gay furry communist programmer, but I am saying they’re at least two of those things until proven otherwise.
But quite a few of us are, in fact, all of the above.
Guilty. 😸
guilty as charged. bisexual furry communist future programmer here 🤚
Well I don’t identify as a furry, but if people start meowing it’d be rude of me not to join in :3
The percentage of furries that are queer is definitely higher than the total population average; I wonder if the percentage of queer folk who are furries is also similarly higher.
As of the last survey a few years back, something like 80% of furries are queer.
Never saw estimates for how many queer folks are furries but I suspect it’s a tiny fraction.
Separately, the number of furries who are in IT is supposedly very high as well, though I have yet to meet any.
I’ve noticed this myself! Any moderately-sized org probably has a furry or two keeping things running behind the scenes.
“Palmer Cox” is a little on the nose, don’t you think?

this sublemmythe internet.Wait are straight furries not a thing?
i feel like when this book was made, the word queer meant weird. the authors name totally negates this line of thought though, which is fabulous.
They definitely exist, they’re just a minority in the furry community.
And they’re often really angry about that.
I’m pretty sure they’re a psyop from a rogue nation state and don’t exist
