We’ve known for years that Netanyahu allowed suitcases full of money across the border into Gaza that could only be going to Hamas.

But him going out and soliciting funding for Hamas…

That’s a whole nother thing. I know Netanyhu was already likely on the way out before, but I can’t see how the Israelis let him stay in control after this.

He’s literally the reason all this is happening because the only way his group maintains power is if voters are scared. So he created a reason for them to be scared.

There is not just one man behind this, despite how convenient this would be.

I agree with you, but you might find the history of Zionism interesting. Before Israel, there was a sizable portion of Zionists that didn’t want Israel to exist in the middle east. There were also Zionists that didn’t want a ‘state’. They thought it was more important to have a safe place for a sizable Jewish population. There’s probably a lot of flavors of Zionism that you’d agree with. It’s the dominant Israeli Zionism that’s horrible.

It’s a lot easier to say ‘Zionist’ though. Just thought I’d share in case you weren’t aware.

In the link I provided above it says something very similar:

While it had many strains historically, the Zionism that took hold and stands today is a settler-colonial movement, establishing an apartheid state where Jews have more rights than others. Our own history teaches us how dangerous this can be.

Palestinian dispossession and occupation are by design. […]

Apart from that when you say There’s probably a lot of flavors of Zionism that you’d agree with I must inform you that this is not the case.

“We’ve known for years…” …yeah sure. whatever topic is hot, you’re not only going to be an expert but also speak for all of us.

how is the hamas lgbtq movement doing? what about free press and womens rights? you seem to know it all. will hamas arrest the many muslim rapists we saw on video storming that luna festival?

        It’s not insider knowledge…

Meanwhile, Israel has allowed suitcases holding millions in Qatari cash to enter Gaza through its crossings since 2018, in order to maintain its fragile ceasefire with the Hamas rulers of the Strip.

So you’re saying had to fund a few broke religious terrorists millions of dollars and were then surprised almost a decade later when they carried out a terrorist attack?

To me it would make more sense they wanted an eventual attack so they could have this response.

Bibi is dumb, but I can’t believe he’s dumb enough to not see this coming.

As I mention in another comment it sure makes for very convenient plausible deniability. (And I’m not sure why my above comment is being downvoted. I am contributing to the conversation. lol actually I know exactly why it is being downvoted.)

This is damning for Israel but also for Hamas. Hamas is an Israeli plant.

Some $10 million was to buy fuel from Israel, needed to operate Gaza’s power station, $10 million to pay the salaries of government employees, and the final $10 million was to be given in $100 stipends to some 100,000 Gazan families in need.

In another comment an article is linked saying the money was to maintain the ceasefire. Which could be plausible deniability, but the above also sounds reasonable.

Edit: not sure if my lemmy client is fucked. This was supposed to be in response to @Maeve saying the money was to pay workers and help families in need.

I suppose it gets hard to keep up with multiple stories, both teller and consumer. Is Clark’s law (as the response to Hanlon’s razor) applicable here?

No wonder, all far-right projects like his need a common enemy to unite against. If there’s none, just buy one.
