Tbh my solution thus far has been just not caring. Celebrity culture is annoying; and the people who care about it are annoying too. I don’t care about the Kardashians or whoever and their lives, mine is made measurably better by not paying attention to theirs. Hence why I just pretend to be a celebrity denier, denying celebrities exist. It’s a funny bit and it highlights my apathetic attitude towards them. Primarily because I get my entertainment and art from the sources I endlessly peruse for unpopular (read: extremely small) creators. tbh life this way is amazing. I really wish people who care about celebrity culture would stop being as judgemental as I’ve found them to be regarding what I like when it comes to how niche I like stuff.

By ‘retired’ they mean ‘made redundant and failing to find other work’.

Ageism in the workforce is definitely a thing

95% of celebrity news has always been that meaningless. It isn’t an age thing, as even when I understand the headlines, they just aren’t important. Even if I’m interested in what the celebrity is up to because I like their work, those stories are about inane bullshit that doesn’t even matter to the celebrity themselves.

The important news happens irregularly and outside of their control, so the news companies create trash to pad dull moments in between. The same is true with all news, as important shit gets passed over to boost filler for more profitable topics. I often see nothing important on news websites, only to find seriously important stories from those same websites buried under the trash from third-parties.

There are gruntflips reported on at all levels. It isn’t really new anywhere.

Gruntflip sounds dangerously close to cuntflap.

Anyway I’m about to turn 30, but it’s not like I was ever one of the cool kids. As a teen/young adult I was a dork. (still am, it’s just that when you’re an adult no one gives a shit)

So I’ve instead been watching the evolution of the inscrutable language of young people from afar for a very, VERY long time.

I’m 50 and I don’t follow any news. I have limited time left can’t be bothered to spend it away worrying or feeling sorry about unfortunate events.
