Call a duck a duck
The person who set the fires said they wanted to be arrested, and it wasn’t politically motivated. Unless they give evidence to the contrary, there’s no reason to not believe them, especially since they had a prior arrest warrant outstanding for something unrelated.

He was saying there’s reason to believe they thought this would be a high profile, non-violent action that would get them attention as well as arrested. I.e., that the arrest and attention were the primary motivations moreso than a political one. It was just a standard, blue USPS post box, not a specific county ballot box (those actually have fire suppression for this reason), so it seems reasonable that this person is just an unstable idiot, not a politically motivated unstable idiot.
He was previously arrested for just showing up to a work site, assumed homeless, and sitting there, and then trying to take an officers gun “because he ‘wanted it’ and ‘because it’s cool.’” He was then restrained with duct tape. Lol
Who knows, it’s dumb and he was arrested though, which is good.

If he has a warrant out and wanted to be arrested… Why wouldn’t he just walk into a police station?
People who want to be arrested aren’t necessarily the sharpest tool in the shed…
They also look kind of dumb with their finger and their thumb in the shape of an “L” on their forehead.
That would make sense. Unfortunately, I’ve known enough contrarian weirdos to see how that type of logic might make more sense (to them).

Knowing that it’s probably just illogical all the way down, I could believe either scenario.
Most people have no idea they have a warrant out until they have an interaction with the police. Most warrants aren’t for issues serious enough to send an officer to pick someone up. Not all warrants are for violent offenses.
I’m sure the guy wasn’t rocking a full set of marbles if this is what he thought passes for a good idea.
If you’re seeking a felony or many, no better way than to do something to the USPS. Glad the damage was minimal to the ballots and that this person maybe can get the help they need and seemingly were screaming for internally.
This is why I took my mail in ballot to the post office instead of trusting a mailbox or my conservative mailman.
I did so and I’m checking my county’s ballot tracker like a hawk to make sure it registers.
I got the email saying they received mine yesterday.
Still double checked the website because it could have been a Republican trick.

I dropped mine in the county’s drop box so I don’t have to risk letting USPS destroy it or “lose” it. Make sure you follow up to verify that your ballot was received AND accepted.

I think DeJoy has pulled back their enforcement somewhat - to the point that violence against mail-carriers has had a HUGE spike. Hopefully this is still covered though.

It’s good to vote early in case extremists try to take your vote away from you. Also, track your ballot, if you’re able to.

That is several US broken laws. There’s an orange jumpsuit is that persons future.
This is actually my local post office, where I dropped off my ballot last week. They have taped signs above the mail slots in the extended-hours lobby that said “ballets” need to be handed to a specific window (meaning a worker during business hours). I can imagine there may have been some people who couldn’t visit during the 8:30-4:30 USPS hours who utilized the outside mailboxes. This really sucks for them.
Political violence aimed at voting, I wonder if it was dems or repubs committing the crime?
