Adding A.I. into a product is the equivalent of saying one more lane will fix traffic
Ew.
I am going to pass on that.
Doesn’t chat gpt still just make random stuff up?
Considering in much of the world Google defaults to AI answers now, it’s just a matter of who makes up less incorrect shit
Even when AI is given search results it can struggle with anything that’s not simple. Kagi has a search integration and it references the websites, even then I often find mistakes, although much less without it.
I don’t trust LLMs without this integration
What’s next? Temu as your default search engine? The hotline to your nearest car dealership? Maybe just sit a tea leaf reader next to your desk to answer your questions. The possibilities are endless!
Why use a search engine at all when you can have your browser directly text your mom.
Is this extension directly from OpenAI? Or is it third party?
It seems to be directly from OpenAI. You can find the link when you click on your account dropdown menu on chatgpt.com.

If I typed “why should I use chatgpt as a search engine” would I get some self-celebratory wall of text, or be among the first victims of the machines uprising?
Ignorance is bliss…
A.I. means Assumed Intelligence, despite what you might have read elsewhere. Using it to do “research” is how you’re going to get first hand experience with so-called “hallucinations”.
But you do you…
AI means Artificial Intelligence.
Nowadays people think that AI is only chatbots like ChatGPT, which are just LLMs.
edit: fixed mistake
AI means Artificial Intelligence.
It means Alpaca Insurance!
Also, that is an algorithm and not intelligence. Logic isn’t the same thing as intelligence.
Okay. Define “intelligence”.
The ability to comprehend and make use of knowledge based on changing contexts. An algorithm doesn’t have the ability to understand why it is doing what it does, nor does it have a way to apply itself outside of a predefined context.
That’s too bad
