I wasn’t prepared for this question and I’ld rather wish you had directly thrown a wrench to my head.

          I can’t dodge wrenches … I also can’t dodge existential dread

I definitely overthink before sleep, I’m relatively calm in the other places you listed. I never thought about where/when I overthink before, thanks for giving me a new way of framing overthinking, I will try my best not to overthink it

Try mindfulness meditation. It has helped me get reins on my running mind, especially when I’m trying to sleep.

I used to meditate alot and it has helped, using headspace in the beginning but I stopped some years ago. On the bright side I overthink much less than before but meditation couldn’t hurt and would probably help

All of course, but you are eight places short for your zodiac substitute wheel. Allow me to suggest:

    • While driving
    • While getting ready to work
    • Upon waking up
    • While on the toilet
    • While eating a meal
    • During breaks
    • While doing tedious work
    • While vacuuming or cleaning floors

I vote for vacuuming to be combined with dishes for a general “while cleaning”. There needs to be a “while interacting with other people”.

With that said, my zodiac sign is “yes”

If you are always listening to podcasts or audio books your brain can’t over think so you only do it while trying to sleep.

Jokes on you, brain. I listen to sleeping podcasts. The thoughts will never catch me.

I actually have the same issue and can’t wear earbuds in bed. I went as far as to purchase special sleeping headphones, they’re over the ear and really small (they market themselves as the smallest in the world). I can hardly feel them honestly. However, I was cheap and bought the wired version so now the wire bothers me. If you have money to waste, they’re called bedphones. Just make sure you get the wireless ones.

I sleep on my own now so I just put the sound on my speaker, but sleeping alone is all its own privilege.

Thanks for sharing! I’ll guess it’s something I’ll try at some point. At the moment I currently sleep blindfolded and with earplugs. I like both absolute darkness and having my bedroom properly ventilated.

Public spaces and my face cannot hide my thoughts.

    I get some strange looks

      And more!

At my desk, at the gym, at work, during therapy, watching TV, eating, at the club, while reading, so many opportunities to overthink!

It won’t ever shut up (brainhole adhd).

It’s more what triggers the few seconds of quiet I get blessed with every few moons.

Washing dishes is the place of least overthinking, mostly because I have to put something in the background to keep the thoughts at bay. If not it’s constant.
