Summary

Steve Bannon, former Trump strategist, sharply criticized Elon Musk over his support for H-1B visas, accusing him of undermining American workers.

On his “War Room” podcast, Bannon warned Musk to adopt MAGA’s “America First” stance or face backlash, calling for a complete immigration moratorium.

Musk, a proponent of skilled foreign labor, has defended H-1B visas for filling tech jobs, citing a lack of qualified Americans, sparking controversy.

Trump’s unexpected support for H-1B workers has further divided MAGA supporters, escalating tensions between Trump allies and Musk.

Between Musk’s “I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend,” and Bannon’s “we’ll rip your face off”, it’s like watching teenagers with too much testosterone duke it out on the playground. The discourse shows the level of maturity circling around Trump…

I’ve been equating Trump supporters to teenagers crying about having to do chores and thinking they’d manage the house better than their parents if they were only given a chance!

Fuck me, I hate the fact that I agree with Bannon on this. But I’ve seen far too many instances of H1-B visas being issued when American workers “couldn’t be found” for positions, when the reality was that America workers couldn’t be found at rates the company wanted to pay. It’s never about finding actual expertise, and always about saving money combined with hiring people that can’t complain about abuse.

Tell ya what, the ‘solution’ might be to naturalize all H1-B workers so that they have the same rights and can’t be deported if they quit.

Yeah. They’ve been doing this crap since at least the 90s. I’d love to see some reparations paid for the decades I’ve been in this field and had my wages artificially held down by this garbage.

Companies use them as a way to suppress wages as well. They’re basically slaves once they are here too, don’t argue with the pay or we’ll revoke the visa sponsorship and send you home.

Right, and that’s why I think that maybe naturalizing them once they’re here might solve that; can’t send 'em home if home is here.

Or maybe change the system so that a company is responsible for them for 48 months, even if they quit; that might be an adequate disincentive.

Yep. It was kind of hard to get to the “obedient workers” (in the George Carlin sense) with knowledge workers, so the corporations colluded with a captured government to rig it so knowledge workers can be kept in line.

They do that up here as well in Canada.

They give slave wages for fast food jobs in a super expensive market, say oh we can’t find anyone, and then bring in temporary workers using our temporary foreign worker program, have them stay in cramped housing provided by the owners, and charge high rent. Then they threaten to fire them and have them deported if they make a fuss.

I agree. I hate that I agree with Bannon, too. I would not be surprised to see him lose on this, though. Donvict is a lame duck and doesn’t need votes now, he just wants to make as much money for himself as possible now.

      Qualifications:

      • College educated
      • Unable to refuse orders
      • Willing to work for peanuts

Joke aside, it’s also about control. American citizens can tell Elmo to fuck off when asked to do something illegal or unsafe. Sponsored workers are incentivized to avoid doing that, as their eligibility to stay in the country is dependent on their employment.

They can’t find people with 15 years experience on this software that’s only been around for 6. Time to hire a foreigner for chump change.

Bingo. Also, they often narrow it down to wanting people with 20 years experience, but still in their 20s. So, yeah, “we had to hire cheap compliant foreigners, regrettably, because no Americans want to work any more…”

The modern fascist doesn’t present themself as a strong military leader anymore, instead presenting themself as an entertainer for the people. I believe this image is what makes it difficult to get the masses fully under your control, and granting you unchallenged authority.

To Trump fascism has been a means of filling his coffers and dodging criminal prosecution for his many crimes. That kind of changes now, though, as he will have more or less achieved those ends entirely. His twilight years are coming to a close. He doesn’t have an infinite stretch of time in front of him. The MAGA movement wants blood. They want to start on the home front, with mass deportation of Latin Americans and widespread institutional violence against queer people. But fascism as political movement does not and can not end there. By necessity, it will escalate into small territorial gains and proxy wars before devolving into conquering military campaigns and eventually collapse under its own weight. He’s already preparing for this. This is legitimately already happening. He’s already starting to create ideological justification for the forced annexation of several nearby nations.

Fascist countries have a life cycle. It’s pretty hard for Fascist nations to justify their own existence without constant conflict. There always has to be another enemy. Fascist thought is dominated by ultra nationalism, patriotic purity tests, and racialism. The more dogmatic the fascist becomes, the more they come to see the world itself as the inheritance of their race and nationality. Unless Trump intends to abandon fascists at some point (something I think is pretty unlikely), then he will have to justify the continued existence of the fascist movement. His followers will be angry, and he has to keep them that way.
