Not trans but I’m a guy whos always had long hair. Some people just can’t get over you not conforming to the way everyone else does things

There is this one old guy who unironically brought scissors and “jokingly” threatened to cut my hair if I wouldn’t get it cut. I promptly threatened him that I’ll cut his shriveled dick off if he touches my hair

Same here bro! Weirdly enough my grandma who was born in the 40s was more accepting of it than my mom lmao. Thankfully mom has accepted it now but she’s still trying to accept the beard… I’m 23…

I know that was ironic but I think it depends, because my own beard growth is so ugly and not everywhere that I trim it away everytime it gets longer than 5mm.

Haven’t had a hair cut in 6 years, I don’t plan on getting one.

People always ask when I plan to cut my hair, some are even shocked when I say I don’t want to.

Same (not really, only 3 years without cut I think) but my hair loss is getting more intense (hormonal + stress probably) so I will go back to the old middle length curly hair.

I’m actually the opposite! Had my hair long for years because I was a dancer and needed it long to put it up in buns for the wig (competitive Irish Dancer, wig was a part of the deal). Years after i stopped I finally got it cut short and it’s a wonder how I dealt with long hair for so long with hating it on my neck

Is there any way you need your hair to be cut before growing it out? I was letting it grow quite long, but it started looking silly due to the different initial lengths (longer up top, shorter on the side). In the end I got it cut and it looked way neater again.

You actually need to get a few parts cut. All of your hair grows at the same rate so you will have to get cuts on the front parts Every few months.

Just make sure to go to a proper hair stylist. I went to a cheap one once and they, despite my INTENSE PROTEST, cut everything :/

I used to go to this Asian place where the hairdressers barely spoke a word of English for ten dollar cuts. And I loved it. I started going to a more expensive place and I found the whole experience more unpleasant.

I just yolo’d it through the mullet phase, then once it was long enough I trimmed everything to the same length.

Find a stylist you trust, tell them you want to grow your hair out. They’ll help you get an initial shape, and while it’s growing, it’s still important to get trimmed up. It takes time, and in the middle stages can look a little messy, but it all comes together in the end.

Also remember a little bit of styling can go a long way during those awkward lengths. Sometimes it really is all in how you wear it.

The awkward phase is just part of growing your hair out. There are some ways to mitigate how awkward it looks, but it’s just something you deal with for a while.

Start during a national lockdown and don’t leave the house/go on video calls for several months/years.

Haha yeah I got it pretty long then. But it looked quite silly and was also annoying. As I understand it’ll still need some maintenance
