Donald Trump has announced he will run for president in 2028 during a rambling speech to the Washington press corps.
Trump was speaking at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner when he appeared to make the announcement.
I won three times, now I’m gonna do it again,” he said, while putting on a cap that read “Trump 2028″.
“I’m gonna do it again. It should be easy.”
He went on to add that he won in 2020 but the election was rigged.
The 80-year-old was met with a smattering of applause, but even he did not seem excited by the moment.
Over the dead body of every patriot that stands for the Constitution, which reads in pertinent part:
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice

That part will never happen. No matter what - he’s getting away with it. He’s too old to face any real consequences.
What we need to ensure is that responsibility doesn’t end with him. We need a new round of Nuremberg trials and his cronies and enablers need to be held to account.

If I could trust the system to actually enforce the Constitution, I’d say bring it on. The 22nd amendment never prohibits running when you’re ineligible to be elected. I’d actually love to see him run, “win”, and then have to watch his opponent get sworn in because he’s not eligible.

He engaged in insurrection, Congress never voted to remove it, he is holding office NOW despite our constitution stating quite clearly he is ineligible.

Yeah, the Supreme Court finding that the President was exempt from that wording really shows you the how they are willing to jump through to take over the government.
I’m horrified but also morbidly curious to see what bullshit they’ll be coming up with next to let Trump continue to rule.
They can just declare “a term” to mean 10 years. Or say “the law means two CONSECUTIVE terms is the limit” or whatever they want.
If no one stops them or holds them accountable or enforces the law or constitution then what’s the point of having any laws?

The court should be made up of a rotating panel of judges, made up of judges from the district courts, or lower courts in general, so the judges themselves are also subject to the court’s rulings, rather than a few permanent power-hungry narcissists imperiously sitting above us all with no accountability.
Each judge must be part of the Supreme Court for a year or two at a time, call it a “detail,” then they go back to their normal job as a judge.

The thing is, if no one enforces a law then you have no law. You can write a rule on a piece of paper, but if you don’t follow it what does it actually mean?

The one in April was cancelled before Trump spoke because an armed person charged the security checkpoint in the hotel. It was rescheduled. The rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner took place on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C… Trump attended and delivered a lengthy, hourlong speech.
After checking my calendar, I can confirm that July 24th was in fact yesterday, meaning Trump gave this speech less than 24 hours ago. No one’s astroturfing or being manipulated by a language model about this.

I think that I am starting to see a pattern forming.
It is a common issue. The person who is loudly making the accusations is the often responsible for the crime. I have seen this several times at restaurants and in retail. The person pointing fingers is often the culprit.
Trump absolutely thinks there were over 3 million illegal votes in 2016 and the reason he didn’t win the popular vote. While president he didn’t demand or even mention having an investigation into what would have been the largest democratic voting fraud case in world history. There should have been thousands of arrests to pull off 3+ million illegal votes.
Only two outcomes.
- He made it up on the spot because he hates to lose anything.
- He was right but also extremely incompetent in not calling for an investigation and there were somehow no whistle blowers nor any evidence at all and he almost never talks about it later.
To be fairer to Pedonald than might be reasonable, he did question the 2016 results. Both before the election as a “if I lose it must have been rigged, because that would make me sad”, and after as a “I totally won the popular vote too, and every single state, but those fake votes made it look like I didn’t.”

If the headline was “Trump indicates for the nth time he really wants a third term”, that would at least be defensible. It says that he has announced a re-election bid. He has not.

I think he (on a subconscious level) knows this would basically sign his death warrant if he officially did it cold turkey like you say would show it was real. That’s probably why he did it like this: to ease his way into doing it.

They both mentioned the third term multiple times but amongst a thousand other flood the zone bullshit it just went through. When they officially announce it nobody will be surprised and 24h later there’ll be some other scandal like trump shitting his pants again.

Mr. Trump seemed to realize he was losing the room. After a joke he told about the gerontocracy on Capitol Hill bombed, he said: “That was actually the only thing I thought was good in this whole fricking stupid speech. It was the only good one, and that went down with not exactly great laughter.”
He threw his arms up in exasperation and people started to laugh again.
As his speech reached its conclusion, he pulled out a hat and with a theatrical flourish plopped it on his head. It said, “Trump 2028.” Some clapped. Others laughed. Most of the reporters just stared straight ahead.
